“Cillian’s got a point. How do we know this isn’t Joaquin setting us up?” I asked, redirecting their attention to therightsubject. I made sure to keep half of my body blocking Cillian so he didn’t think about attacking our boss. The last thing we needed was for him to be reprimanded for kicking Jamie’s ass because it wouldn’t be a pleasant punishment. Plus, Corbin would probably try to shoot him and that would be annoying. The longer this job went on, the more unrestrained Cillian would become. Sleep deprivation, his longing for home, and the chaos of trying to kill Joaquin was already messing with his mind and control.
“We don’t, but I got a good feeling about this, fellas. This lover of his has a bone to pick with him. He’s an entitled boy who doesn’t like how much Joaquin’s been ignoring him.” He flashed us a grin. “So, get those suits on and let’s move out. Now.”
He didn’t say another word, just spun on his heel and left out the door, leaving it wide open, which gave me a view of Corbin on the couch in the safe house living room reading the newspaper. I snorted at Jamie’s dramatic exit and glanced at Cillian, taking a moment to appreciate the hard lines of his naked body. Sweat gleamed on his chest from a few hours of sleep without the air conditioning running cold enough, and the urge to lick the droplets off his skin had me stepping forward before I reminded myself we had to move.
Cillian’s mouth curved into a smirk as though he knew exactly what I was thinking about and he grabbed his dick, shaking it at me. “Ye want to suck me off?”
I grinned but didn’t answer as I went back to my suit. I ignored him as I began to dress, and he did the same, grabbing a suit from the closet. We’d worn suits since the minute we’d joined the Company, so getting dressed in them and securing our ties became second nature. As much as I hated wearing the business attire, I couldn’t help but appreciate Cillian in it, especially now that he’d dressed in a deep maroon suit. It was almost as if he was trying to get my attention.
I whistled when he finished securing the knot on his tie, and he lifted his head to give me an unusual self-conscious smile.
“Like what ye see?” He slid his tongue across his upper lip.
I hummed in appreciation and let my gaze roam across his body, taking in how the suit was perfectly fitted to his wide shoulders and muscular arms. The design was created to accentuate his strong build, and my mouth watered. I wanted to get my hands on him and bend him over to destroy his hole with my dick. If only we had time....
“Boys, what’s taking ya so long? Let’s goooo,” Jamie yelled from what I thought was the kitchen and had me sighing.
“Until later, when Joaquin’s dead.”
Cillian winked. “I’ll be keeping ye to that promise.” He slapped my ass on the way toward the door, and I went to get him back, but he power walked out of the bedroom. I followed, and we met Jamie and Corbin near the front door. They were in their suits, same as us, looking impeccable and not like men who were about to kill their enemy and add flames to an already raging war.
“Looking dapper, gentlemen.” Jamie laughed and jerked his head toward the door. “Let’s get on with it. We’ve got a bit of a drive.”
We followed him out of the safe house and toward a black Audi with tinted windows, the kind of car Sloan kept around, and it was nice like the rest of his vehicles. Corbin got into the driver’s seat with Jamie as the front passenger. Cillian and I took the back and settled in. Jamie handed us phones, and I gave him a smile of thanks.
“All the numbers ye might need that I have are in there.” Jamie winked. “Corbin remembered that ya had taken a dip in the ocean and arranged the replacements.”
The phones were okay, although, I would get a new one when I got back to New York. I messaged Fallon, then Vail to see if everything was all right before doing the same to Rowen—because he was more likely to tell me the truth.
Aspen: How are things in NYC? Are Fallon and Vail behaving?
It took a moment for Rowen to reply.
Rowen: It’s a bit of a mess. We’ve got issues here with the Cartel.
I frowned and showed Cillian the message. His eyebrows dipped in concern, and I quickly sent a reply.
Aspen: What happened? Is everyone okay?
Then, I messaged Fallon and Vail separately again, even though they hadn’t replied yet.
Aspen: Are you okay?
Still, I got no reply from them. Rowen did respond, though.
Rowen: Long story. The boys are good. It’s the Company. Busy right now. Call you later?
Aspen: Going out to deal with the Cartel, too. Will call you after we take care of stuff.
Rowen sent a thumbs-up as a reply.
I took a deep breath and leaned forward, laying my hand on the side of Jamie’s seat.
“Have you heard what’s happening back home? Rowen said there’s something going down with the Cartel.”
Jamie winced and that was all the answer I needed. He knew what was happening and hadn’t told us, which caused a burning anger I’d never felt toward Jamie. Usually he kept us up to date with everything.
Cillian jerked forward and bared his teeth. “What the feck’s going on?”
