Muzo’s cheeks flushed as he laughed. “Really? It’s only been, like, two hours.”
“Any time apart is too long.”
He ducked his head, the blush turning a shade darker. “I missed you, too. I kept thinking about our date. I had so much fun. And the kiss was...” He swallowed visibly. “Nice.”
I swept closer to him. No more time or distance stood between us.
“I’m here,” I assured him, taking his hands in mine.
The size difference shocked me. They were so small and soft, only half as big as mine. Powerful protective feelings surged to the surface of my being. It was similar to how I felt about my blood family, but innately different. This was deep and potently romantic. I’d never felt this way about any omega before.
“So, uh, your hands are pretty big,” Muzo began, glancing at them before mischievously meeting my gaze. “Does the rest of you match?”
“If you’re asking if I have a large cock, the answer is yes.”
Muzo broke out into a breathy laugh. “Hey, I was tryin’ to be subtle about it.” Looking over his shoulder at the king-sized bed, he added, “Speaking of being subtle, I dunno if you got the hint, but I’m inexperienced at the whole spectrum of romance. If you catch my drift.”
My brows furrowed. “I do not.”
Muzo’s cheeks gradually turned a deeper color. “Right. Okay. I’m...” He lowered his voice to a barely discernible mumble. “A virgin.”
Why was he so shy about it? That meant nothing to me.
I lifted his hand and pressed a kiss to the back. “Then I will take you as slowly as you need,” I promised.
Muzo’s eyes widened, their dark depths glinting with a storm of feeling. He licked his lips before letting out a weak laugh. “You really know how to fluster a guy, Cobalt. C’mon, let’s at least sit on the bed. I’m getting weak in the knees here.”
I followed him to the king mattress. There was plenty of space for both of us, even though I took up the majority of it. I noticed the blue dragon plushie sitting squarely on top of the pillows at the base of the headboard.
“Do you like that?” I asked, nodding to it. “I asked Taylor to sew it.”
Muzo gasped, gathering the plushie into his arms. “Do Ilikeit? I’m obsessed with him! If I only got to bring one thing back home with me, it’d be this guy, no matter how many clothes I had to—” He stopped suddenly, his mouth hanging open, then he grabbed a half-eaten chocolate bar off the bedside table. “Hey, you wanna share this? If I eat any more by myself, I might explode.”
I didn’t know why he changed the subject so suddenly, but I figured it was hyperactivity caused by all the sugar. I leaned forward to take a bite.
“Mm,” I said. “Not bad.”
“Not bad?” Muzo echoed in disbelief. “This is probably the best stuff money can buy. And you bought it for me.”
“Of course I did. I’d buy you anything you ever wanted.”
I took another small bite while Muzo blushed.
“I’m not a big chocolate fan,” I admitted. “But it tastes sweeter since you brushed it with your lips.”
Muzo fanned himself. “Haha. Did they crank up the heat in here, or is it just me?”
He seemed nervous. If this was his first time engaging in any romantic act, I understood why. As much as I wanted to jump right into it, Muzo’s needs came first. My dragon and his mating instincts had to be patient.
“I brought something,” I said.
“Another gift? Cobalt, seriously, you’ve given me enough.”
“Not quite.” I pulled out a small bottle of unscented baby oil from my back pocket. “I thought you might enjoy a massage after your chaotic day.”
“Y-you’re gonna massage me?” he asked, eyes going wide. “But that’s so...”
“What?”
