Cobalt’s mouth hung open. The spray from the tide splashed his hair. Loose strands of it fell across his forehead, ruining his otherwise well-put-together vibe. He looked adorably silly.
And then he started laughing. A deep, honest belly laugh belted from his lips.
I’d seen him smile, but never heard him laugh. The effect was instantaneous. It slammed me deep in my core. Ilovedthat sound.
Cobalt’s happiness was infectious. I burst out laughing, too. The two of us lost it until we ran out of air.
When I’d caught my breath, I said, “Sorry I ruined our first kiss. And my first kissever.”
“That was your first?” he asked.
“Uh huh. Told you I’m not experienced.”
His smile twisted into an unexpectedly mischievous smirk. “Good. We’ll do it over and over until we get it right.”
My stomach flipped. Did hewantto kiss me over and over?
Aside from the kissing debacle, I couldn’t help but think thiswasa little romantic. Cobalt hadn’t set me down, so I was curled up in his strong alpha arms like a damsel in distress against a picturesque backdrop of sky and ocean.
Cobalt pressed his forehead to mine. I shivered at the damp feeling of his hair brushing against my warm skin.
“Tonight. Your room. Kissing practice,” Cobalt said quietly.
My brain short circuited. I gawked, certain I’d misheard him.
“What do you think, Muzo?” he asked.
My toes curled at the sultry way he murmured my name.
“Yup. Yes,” I said, nodding for good measure. “Good idea.”
Satisfaction glittered in Cobalt’s sapphire eyes.
“Then I’ll see you later,” he promised.

Cobalt
I didn’t breakthe door this time.
Taking my brothers’ advice, I waited until after hours to breach the hotel. I entertained the idea of flying to Muzo’s balcony in my dragon form, but it was too gigantic to be stealthy. Going on foot in human form was less of a headache.
I stalked past the front desk and beelined for Muzo’s room. My late-night visit wasn’t technically allowed, but I didn’t care. The film crew was off work for the day, so nobody should be there to record my infraction. Besides, this hotel was my property. The whole island was mine.
And now, Muzo was about to be mine, too.
I didn’t check the room numbers. I’d already memorized which one belonged to him. When I arrived in front of it, I noticed the new door, and was struck by the urge to ripthisone off its hinges, too.
Instead, I gave a single stiff knock.
Muzo swung it open immediately, like he’d been waiting for my arrival. His face lit up the second he laid eyes on me.
“Hi, Cobalt,” he said through a smile.
The sight of him after a brief time apart reignited the heat between my thighs. I didn’t waste a second longer. I stepped into the room, letting the door shut behind me. This time, there were no prying onlookers lurking in the hallway. We had this moment to ourselves.
“I missed you,” I said.
