Felix

“I’m telling you, he’sglowing. Look at him!”

I groaned as Skylar leaned on me, smushing my angel wings out of place. His halo bounced against my cheek as he rested his head on my shoulder and I gently swatted it out of the way. Kaden laughed as he continued polishing the empty tables.

“I am not, Sky,” I protested.

“Why? It’s not a bad thing! I’m just excited about how happy you look!”

It was a calm Friday afternoon at the Omega Angel Café, which I was pleased about. Elijah and I had dinner reservations tonight at a place I’d never even heard of--an expensive, fancy, out-of-my-budget restaurant called simplyThe Bistro.I tried to resist, but Eli promised to foot the bill. It was his way of teasing me about the time I said he didn’tactwealthy, like an immature I-told-you-so.

Not that I wasn’t looking forward to it, of course.

“This is just the way my face looks,” I told Skylar, who shook his head and refused to believe me.

Skylar grinned and poked his finger into the corner of my mouth. “No, it’s not. When you first showed up here, you barely smiled. At least, not arealsmile. You were so shy and meek, like you were afraid we we’re gonna be mean to you.”

“I mean, Iwashaving a bad time,” I admitted. “Getting kicked out of my place and all.”

“Sky’s right, you know,” Kaden added with a smile. “Your personality’s totally changed. You’re so bright and energetic now. It’s a good thing. Don’t be embarrassed about it.”

I blushed. It was true that I felt better than ever, and I knew most of it was because of Elijah. In a few short months, he’d helped me to become the best version of myself and I never wanted to go back to the person I was before.

“So I’m guessing things are going well with you and Elijah?” Skylar asked.

My face turned warmer. “Yeah. Everything’s great with him. Amazing, even.”

“Aw, look how big your smile is!” Skylar sighed and took my hand. “I’m so happy for you, Felix. You really deserve to be happy, and I’m glad it's with a good alpha like him.”

A massive grin spread across my face. It felt indescribable to be so happy.

“Hello? Can a guy get some service in here?”

Immediately I perked up, guilty that none of us were at the front desk to serve a customer. But when Skylar gasped and bolted to the front of the café with a shriek, I knew something was different.

“Jake!”

An omega walked in with a lopsided grin and a young infant in his arms, and I knew from descriptions of him that it must have been Skylar’s old roommate. Skylar hugged Jake and ushered him inside. From the look on Jake’s face, he seemed excited to be here.

“Felix, this is Jake,” Skylar introduced. “Jake, Felix.”

Jake smiled and stretched out a hand. “Nice to meet you. I hear you took over my old couch. Sorry about all the cats, also. My fault. Long story.”

“It’s okay. They were nice company while I was there. I actually have a place of my own now.” After shaking his hand, my eyes drifted to the infant strapped to his chest. “And who is this? I don’t think we’ve been introduced.”

Jake’s eyes lit up. “This is my son, Finn. Can you saynice to meet you, Felix?”

Finn made some incomprehensible baby noise that sounded nothing like those words, but it melted my heart anyway.

“He’s so beautiful,” I murmured.

Jake must have seen something glitter in my eyes because he asked, “Would you like to hold him?”

I gasped. “Oh, no, I . . .”

Skylar laughed. “Don’t mind Felix. He can be shy sometimes.”
