He nodded. “I’ll give you my number, if you want, if you ever need to talk to someone who’s not Griffin.”

I took his offer, and we exchanged numbers. I wasn’t sure how useful it would be, but having the option was a comfort - one I seriously needed during this trying time.

But sitting around and commiserating wasn’t going to solve my problems. I needed to take action.

“There’s some stuff I need to do,” I told Rafael as I got to my feet. “I better get going.”

He nodded. “Take care, man.”

As I left Rafael, I was filled with budding determination. The panic had faded and a sense of purpose was all that was left.

I had an important decision to make.
