Kyle

Only their closest friends. That was what Kyle had asked for when Scout began making wedding preparations, the same as when Killian’s crowning ceremony took place.

The amount of pack members gathered in the main hall was certainly nottheir closest friends.

Kyle tried to focus on anything besides the number of people who had come to the manor to see him.Him.The thought of it made him shudder. Did these people even know who he was? Or were they just here to see a wedding? Kyle didn’t know which one made him more anxious.

He paced in the makeshift dressing room Scout had set up for him. The other omega was currently fiddling with the cuffs of Kyle’s tuxedo, a simple black and white one that was fitted specifically for him - just another thing that Scout had gone through the extra effort to do for him.

“Aaand that should about do it,” Scout said, finally letting go of a cuff he’d been fussing with for the past five minutes. “Oh, Kyle, you look amazing. I’m gonna start crying already.”

Kyle grinned shyly at his friend. “Save the tears for the ceremony.”

“No promises,” Scout said, jokingly sticking out his hip and putting his hand on it dramatically. “Iama hormonal omega, after all.”

Kyle smiled. He was glad Scout was here to ease his anxiety, even if he did do things like fidget with his tuxedo too much.

Or invite way too many people,Kyle thought. But Scout’s heart was in the right place and he would never fault him for that.

“I should go ask Killian how Stark’s doing,” Scout said. “You stay here. Do you want some tea or something? Actually never mind, don’t have tea, you’ll have to pee in the middle of the ceremony. A biscuit? Crap, then you’ll get crumbs on your tux. You know what? Just sit here, I’ll be right back.”

“Okay,” Kyle said.

“Great!” Scout hurried out the door, leaving Kyle along with his own reflection. He noticed his heart rate was high since he woke up. In fact, he’d been both nervous and excited about this day in the months leading up to it. In the days leading up to the wedding, he didn’t know which one he was more anxious about - the wedding itself, or the baby.

Kyle glanced down at his tummy, which was protruding heavily now. Scout had gone out of his way to get a suit tailored for his late-stage pregnancy. He was ready to be done with the fits of morning sickness (although half the time he was sure the nausea was due to nerves) and strange food cravings. His back was constantly sore for the past month, and some days he could barely get out of bed.

But more than anything, he was ready to meet his baby face-to-face.

Today he was sore as usual, but he had taken a pain med and decided to suck it up. He wasn’t going to let pain interfere with his wedding day.

Nothingwas going to ruin today for him.

A moment later, Scout burst through the door, huffing and eyes wide with desperation.

“Uh,” Scout said, panting. “Okay. Let’s not panic.”

Kyle wasn’t panicking until he heard those words. “What is it, what happened?” he asked. The sight of Scout - who was normally so laid-back and calm - in such distress made Kyle’s heart race.

“Like I said, let’s not panic,” Scout repeated, holding out his hands. He ran one though his hair and Kyle noticed a few strands were displaced from the perfectly styled appearance he had earlier. “So, um. Killian can’t find Stark.”

Kyle’s heart turned to lead and sank into his stomach. “What!?”

“I mean, I’m sure it’s fine! I’m sure he’s around here somewhere!” Scout began pacing around with a fearful grin. “I mean, he has to be! It’s his goddamn wedding day, after all!” He laughed but it was humourless.

Kyle’s breath was caught in his throat. “What do you mean,” he asked slowly. “He can’tfindStark? He’s supposed to be here, isn’t he? The ceremony’s in an hour at the most.”

“It sure is!” Scout cried, throwing his hands into the air. “That’s why he has to be around here somewhere!”

Panic swallowed Kyle. Anxiety crawled up his skin like a worm and he shivered violently. “No… No, that can’t be right,” he said. “Killian must have missed him somewhere, or maybe they passed each other. Stark wouldn’t justnotshow up toour wedding.”

Kyle and Scout just looked at each other, not knowing what to do.

“He’s not that type of guy,” Kyle said, not tearing his eyes off Scout’s.

Scout nodded. “No, he isn’t.”
