“You’re hockey players?”
Anders laughs. “What gave us away?” He smirks, and have I mentioned his jaw line?
“Besides the fact that you’re all huge and taking a hockey puck to the chest?” I ask, and Anders winces.
“How’s the bruise?” he asks, and I can’t tell if he wants to see my boob or if he really cares. And then I wonder why I want him to see my boobs so badly. Not that they’re anything special, but there’s enough to grab onto.
I clear my throat and try to calm myself down. I can smell myself perfuming, and no doubt the Alphas next to me will pick up the scent. “It’s okay.”
Anders arches a brow at me, his arms crossed against his chest making his biceps bulge. “Okay, it hurts,” I concede. He nods and grabs two more Tylenol and this time a bag of frozen blueberries. I wonder why he didn’t give me this one first instead of the pizza rolls, but I’ll take it.
“Are you sure you don’t want us to take a look or take you to a doctor?” he asks. I shake my head. My head doesn’t even hurt anymore, and it’s just a bruise.
“I’ll be okay. Promise,” I say, giving the kind Alpha a smile. He blushes and sits back down on the arm of the chair.
“What college do you guys go to?”
“BU,” Eli says, and I nod my head.
“My best friend goes to UMass. Well, for now. She applied to Yale for medical school.” Eli scoffs, and I assume there is some rivalry there.
“You?” Eli asks, and I dare to say there’s something hopeful in his voice.
“Mercy University.” Eli doesn’t react, but Anders does with a wince. “I know,” I reply to Anders’ unspoken reaction.
“Sorry, I was recruited by them as well.” He doesn’t elaborate, and Eli looks confused.
“That’s in North Carolina, right?” Eli asks, and I nod my head.
“You got a full ride?” Anders asks, and I nod again. I’m shocked that he knows so much about the school, but if he was recruited by multiple colleges, it makes sense. Eli still looks confused.
“It’s pretty much the college where the affluent send their Alpha sons to snag an Omega with a full ride,” I blurt out, and Eli’s eyes widen.
“What the fuck?”
“Indeed.”
“Um, I guess we should have asked if you have an Alpha or a boyfriend or something. Not that I mean… just don’t want to step on anyone’s toes,” Eli says, and it’s cute. Actually, beyond endearing how his freckled cheeks redden as he speaks.
“I’m unbonded and very single.”
“Okay, good,” Eli sputters. “I mean, not good. Just, you’re in a cabin with three Alphas you just met and it could be… Fuck, should we order food?” He changes the conversation, and I’m grateful for it.
I should ask one of them to drive me and Hank home. Deep down I know this, I shouldn’t even be entertaining the idea of hanging out with these Alphas. But the other option is to go home, and what, sit in my room alone? Having someone ask me about myself is nice, and have I mentioned how good they smell?
“Food is good.” I give him a smile, watching the large Alpha’s cheeks darken again as he gets up and grabs a handful of menus out of the drawer.
“What’s good here?”
“Jack’s for coffee, Milanos for pizza, and Szechuan Garden for Chinese.”
“What would you like?” he asks. I’m not sure if I’m just used to the bare minimum or Anders and Eli are just nicer and more compassionate than any other Alphas I’ve come across.
“Chinese, please. I’ll have the Kung Pao.” Eli nods his head and calls the restaurant, clearly already knowing everyone’s favorites—it’s impressive and cute. I wonder how long they’ve been friends. I realize I can just ask. “Are you guys pack?” I ask Anders. He scratches under his chin and shakes his head.
“Best friends, teammates. Not pack.” When he says it, it sounds like he wishes they were.
“Why not?” I’m probably overstepping here, but I’m genuinely curious.
