“Lilith is going to teach me how to portal today!” Mara says to the table, Lilith and my dad smiling at her.

“Are you going to teach me how to do that?” I lean over to Daxaddon.

He leans in and whispers, so only I can hear. “Oh, little witch, I’m going to teach you so many things.

Chapter 32

“Ineedtomakesure that Stevie is okay and I think I would be more comfortable at home,” Blair tells her father.

“You are always welcome here, and I hope that you’ll want to visit soon,” he says. I’ve never seen Lucifer look so pleading before. The man usually demands, stares, and glares. He doesn’t look hopeful or near begging. But the way he’s looking at Blair is like if she leaves right now, she will never come back.

“I promise I will come back soon.”

“Daxaddon, a word,” Lucifer says, looking at Blair and then me. I nod my head as Lucifer stands and I follow him into his library.

“My lord,” I say.

“That’s right, your lord. I need you to look after Blair. Teach her about her demon side. Make sure that she doesn’t get caught up in anything unsavory.”

“Of course, my lord,” I say, ready to get the fuck out of here. He might have been sweet with Blair, but the look he’s giving me right now is malicious.

“And Daxaddon?” he says as I’m leaving the room.

“Yes?” I say, turning around to face him.

“Hurt her and you can consider your soul destroyed.” I swallow and nod my head.

“Wouldn’t dream of it, my lord,” I say. There’s a first for everything. Being warned by the devil about his daughter is definitely a first I never intended on experiencing.

Hell has never been my favorite place. I’ve enjoyed the freedom that Lucifer has given me and I don’t plan on fucking that up. Most of all, I never want to see Blair hurt or upset again. I’m not sure what life looks like when we’re healed and not actively working against some big bad. But I’m eager to find out.

“Blair, are you ready to go home?” I ask her.

“Yes,” she says, scooting out of her chair and holding a hand out to me. No flinching when I touch her skin. Her touch feels different now, like she’s less fragile against my touch. “Uh, so I guess I’ll be seeing you soon,” she says, looking between Lucifer, Lilith, and Mara.

“Perhaps once Daxaddon teaches you to portal,” Lucifer says.

“Perhaps,” she says. Not wanting to stand in this awkward as fuck family function a second longer, I portal her to her front yard.

She doesn’t even look nauseous as she stands straight up on the lawn. “That’s what it’s supposed to feel like?”

“It will only get easier the more you do it. We can start working on it tomorrow if you’d like.”

“I’d like that,” she says, giving me a tight smile.

“Do you want me to leave?” I ask her.

“No,” she says, biting her nail. “I’m just nervous about seeing Stevie.”

“If she’s not here, she should be with Kas and Asmo,” I reply.

She nods her head, and we walk over to her front door. She exhales as she turns the doorknob. As soon as the door opens, a disturbingly foul smell leaks out, making us both want to heave.

“What the fuck is that?” she says, using her arm to cover her nose. Her eyes watering.

“Clover,” I reply.

Her eyes widen as she looks over at me and then shrugs, turning around and walking back toward the driveway, away from the stench.
