The show starts just as it would with any standard showing. They point out different constellations and Cami is paying attention with a mild interest. Her thumb rubs calming circles on my knuckle, and I wonder if she knows what’s happening right now.
“While many Greeks and Romans named constellations and stars from mythology, others believe stars could tell us our future. That fate plays a major portion of our destiny and the way the stars are aligned dictates that destiny.”
The glow of the constellations changes and the operator lines the stars up spelling out the words ‘Cami, Marry Me.’
Cami gasps and the attendant turns on a low glowing light so I’m able to see her face. I get down on one knee before her and open the ring box. “Cami, I know that we’re bonded and that means more than the world to me. But I want to give you everything. I want to be tied to you in every single way possible. I want you to be my Omega, my bonded, my wife, and my little star for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?”
She doesn’t even look at the ring, she just wraps her arms around my neck and squeezes. I quickly grab her back as she cries happily in my arms. Her grip is so tight around my throat I might pass out if she doesn’t let up.
“Baby, are you going to give me an answer?” I rasp out.
“Shut up, of course. The answer is yes.” She hiccoughs in my ear and takes a step back from me so I can place the ring on her finger. Cami finally takes the time to look at the ring. “She…she gave this to you?”
“Your mom said you wouldn’t want anything fancy and that this ring would mean more to you than anything I got from a store.”
Cami sighs and looks at the ring her mother gave me. The ring that her father gave to her decades ago. It’s a simple, skinny gold band with one cushion cut diamond in the center.
“I love it,” she says and I stand to take her in my arms and kiss the side of her face. I rub my hands down her arms as she continues staring at the ring.
I take her hand and lead her out of the planetarium to the smiling faces of our friends and family, who all greet us with hugs and congratulations.
My sister hands us champagne as Cami goes to give her mother a massive hug, thanking her for the ring.
“So is now the time to tell you I told you so?” Kelsey says.
“Oh, fuck off, Kelsey.”
She laughs and pushes her head against my shoulder, and I hug her. “I’m happy to see you happy, Harry. It’s all I ever wanted for you.”
“It’s what I want for you too, Kelsey.”
“I am happy,” she sighs.
“Dom makes you happy?”
“Among other people,” she says, trying to run away from me.
“Hey,” I tug her back to my side. “You don’t have to hide things from me. I want you to be happy, Kelsey. You deserve it, too.”
“I’ll tell you everything as soon as I figure it all out.”
“Okay,” I say, squeezing her close to my side. “Are you going to be my best man, or are you going to be a bridesmaid?”
She gapes at me and then smiles. “I would love to be your best man.”
“Good, now let me try to snag some time with my fiancée.” I round the corner and wrap my arms around Cami’s waist.
Her mom smiles happily at us. I see her push a tear away from the corner of her eye. “So, when’s the wedding?”
“Mom, he just proposed.” Cami traces my veins on my forearms with the tips of her fingers.
“I think we would like to do it fast.”
“As long as I’m there, I don’t care about much else,” Cami’s mom says.
“Nadia, it wouldn’t be our wedding without you there.” She gives us one more smile before she leaves to go speak to Liv.
“We’re really doing this?” Cami asks, spinning in my arms.
