“It’s horrible. I’m sure we can get it taken down. Maybe buy the photos and videos back.”
“Buy them back? They never should have been taken in the first place, or shared anywhere.” My voice is loud and Liv looks over and decides to take my hand in hers.
“Of course, you’re right, Cami. I’m on your team,” Garth says, and his nonchalant attitude makes me feel like he is being disingenuous. If he was really on my team wouldn’t he be just as horrified by this situation as everyone else who is filling up my apartment. I’m apprehensive, but I nod my head as he walks to the kitchen.
Liv hugs me so tightly I can barely breathe. She pulls me over to the couch so we can sit down, and I can calm down.
“I’m so sorry we didn’t get to talk about your happy news yet. It was just you two?”
I pull back and smile tightly at her. “It was just us, it was perfect. I feel horrible, he hasn’t even really had much time to rest.”
“Well, he looks like he’s ready to murder someone.”
She isn’t kidding. Smith turned from consoling me and comforting me to attack mode. He’s been on the phone with the police all morning who are working with the cyber division to have the site removed and track the IP address.
Even if they take the site down, who’s to say that they won’t end up posting the video somewhere else?
My phone vibrates on the coffee table, and I pick it up, expecting it to be my mom.
The text is from an unknown number.
Wire two million dollars by 11pm tonight and the video disappears.
Liv reads it over my shoulder and scoffs. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”
“What is it?” Smith asks, and I hand him the phone.
“Motherfuckers. You aren’t paying anyone shit, you know that, right?”
I nod my head. I would pay anything to make this go away. But I know this person would more than likely just continue to blackmail me. I don’t even know how many photos and images are out there. He hands me back my phone and paces behind the couch for a few moments.
Smith lets a low growl leave his throat as he walks back to our bedroom. I can feel his rage through the bond. He’s furious with what is happening to me and that there isn’t much we can do. It doesn’t help that he is sleep deprived and has hardly eaten. He might be a bigger mess than me right now.
I can’t help it when a tear falls and Liv wraps me up in her arms. “Cami, it’s going to be okay. We’re going to stop this person. Are the police looking into the two guys who took the photos in the first place?”
“They are, and they don’t think they’re behind this.”
“We’re all here for you,” Liv says as Kelsey sits next to me and they both hug me.
“Let’s distract you then, tell us all about your heat,” Liv says and I look at Kelsey, making sure she is okay with that.
“I kicked an Alpha out. I told him he wasn’t mine and to get out.”
“Wait, not yours?” Kelsey asks, and it’s the first time I truly smile since we found out about the website. I pull down the corner of my shirt, showing them my bond mark. “Yeah, not mine.”
“Holy shit, he just went all the way, didn’t he?” Kelsey says with her mouth wide open, staring at the bond mark. “No wonder he looks like he could kill someone right now. Not that he wouldn’t have done the same if you weren’t bonded. I’m just shocked he actually did it.”
“It felt right, and just kinda happened, and it was amazing.”
“I’m so happy for you two,” Kelsey says, squeezing me a little tighter. “Once everything calms down, I can’t wait to tell him ‘I told ya so.’ ”
“I’ve been looking forward to that part,” I tell her.
There’s a loud crash from our bedroom and all three of us are immediately on our feet, running in there.
