Skya giggled. Turning back to her, he ignored his boyfriend and grabbed her. Sitting her on his lap, he wrapped one of his arms around her as he went back to typing.

Ah, she was so huggable…and soft and cute. He maybe was starting to like her… Okay, he liked her. Honestly, SECRETLY, Killian actually liked children. But hell to the no would he ever push one out, and he really couldn’t picture Cyrus doing it either. So they adopt, or nothing.

He shuddered. Oh, had he really just thought about children… Oh, the horror…

“What are you up to?” Cyrus asked, leaning forward. The man was looking at his left-most screen, the one with the map of questionable child abandonments.

“Digging into deep and dirty…” He glanced down at Skya and back up. “Poop.”

“Oop!” Skya squealed.

“Yes, Skya, poop. Anyway, you remember how almost thirty-seven years ago, the CEB shut down a major Cryptid child trafficking ring?”

Cyrus groaned. “I don’t like where this is going.”

“No one is going to like where this is going. But I think I know how Seri ended up where he did. At least, as an infant.”

“Shit…”

“IT!”

Killian hissed. “Cyrus!”

He was not getting blamed for that…

“Sorry!”

“So, around that time, your cousin, one of them, took down a major ring. What I think happened was that Seri, along with twelve others, were taken and meant to be sold…but the buyers, the suppliers, and a whole ton of other people, were arrested. My assumption is that the one who was actually in possession of the infants, panicked and dropped whatever children they had off, wherever they could. But not all in the same place. There is a suspicious path of Cryptid children being abandoned at various stops from here…”

He dragged his screen down so he could reach. He pointed to the top dot on the map, tracing the path until he reached the bottom. “To here. Seri being the last dropped off. These children were abandoned within days of each other, but many miles apart. They were close enough that the days they were dropped off add up to how long it would take to drive from each place.”

He pushed his screen back to its normal location.

“So, thirteen possibly trafficked children, including Seri,” Cyrus stated.

“Yes.”

The Fate clucked his tongue. “And it’s possible, Seri could have family out there looking for him?”

“Yes…but Cyrus…is this really the time to tell him? With everything going on…it’s a lot, isn’t it? And what if his parents were in on it?”

“You aren’t wrong.” Cyrus’ eyes began to swirl, his head tilting as he frowned. “Nothing is clear. Find out if said family is involved before telling Seri anything. If the parents are involved, we’ll decide then if there is a point in him knowing. We can always quietly deal with the situation, if need be.”

“Right…” Killian nodded slowly. “I like him… Seri. He seems like a good person, for Severo, that is.”

Cyrus smirked. “Then you’ll be happy to know that Severo wants me to hire him so we can go on double date luncheons.”

Killian snorted. “Fine. He will be the one to regret it in the end. I know so much.”

His boyfriend burst into laughter. “Oh, he will majorly regret it.”

Skya let out a cry of doom, causing Killian to flinch. “What…” He sniffed and gagged as a truly putrid smell invaded his senses—like rotten eggs mixed with skunk. “Oh, my GODS!”

“And on that note…NOT IT!” Cyrus sprinted away.

“CYRUS BARTHOLOMEW GRIMM, YOU GET BACK HERE THIS INSTANT!”

Seri couldn’t hidethe smile on his face as he glanced around the restaurant Hidden Places. It was beautiful!
