‘You’ll see…now do it.”

“Yes, Alpha,” Heath smirked, following his mate’s instructions.

“Okay you can open your eyes.”

Glancing at Tristan for a moment before looking down at his open palm, he asked, “What the fuck is this?”

“A gift from Jackson. Go ahead, put it in your ear.”

Turning it over several times, Heath finally figured out which way it went and inserted the little black device in his ear. “Is this what I think it is?” he asked, grinning.

“Yup. The best there is in communication devices, made by Dire Enterprises.”

“Holy shit!” Heath took it out of his ear, and studied it before putting it back in. “So you and I can talk. Fuckingfantastic!”

“Jackson sent enough for everyone, so I’ll be able to know exactly what’s going on in the field.”

“Shit…you mean everyone will hear what I say to you?”

“Yup,” Tristan replied, popping the ‘p’. “So keep it clean.”

“Aw…what’s the fun in that?”

“What are you talking about now?” Reeve asked, joining them.

“Here,” Tristan said, handing the other device to Reeve. “Does everyone know the location they are assigned to?”

“Yeah,” Reeve said, looking at what Tristan handed him. “Where did you get this?”

“Jackson sent it,” Heath said.

“Just for us?”

“For everyone,” Tristan replied.

Slipping the device into his ear, Reeve asked, “ Are Jackson’s men going to cover the trails?”

“Yes, so I’m sending you with Groose and Heath will stay with the men watching the road.”

Nodding, Reeve said, “Just be careful…Rudy is fighting for his life which makes him very dangerous.”

“I, too, am fighting for my life, Reeve, but more important, I’m also fighting for every man, woman, and child in my pack. Their lives are on the line because if I lose, they all lose, too…and I will not…cannot…let that happen. My strength comes from my pack…something Rudy doesn’t understand or otherwise he’d never be stupid enough to come here.

“For too long evil has filled every corner of my land, but after this, it will never find a foothold here again. I’m going to wipe out the stench of Josiah and Rudy so we can move forward where the future is bright for my pack…a pack where fear is gone forever…where hope is alive…and where joy exists.”

Tristan paused before continuing. “I owe you a lot, Reeve…you gave me a purpose when I was without one…a home I thought was gone forever…and a mate who I love with all my heart. I know you’re worried for my safety, but there’s no need to…good will always defeat evil.” Placing a hand on Reeve’s shoulder and squeezing it, Tristan continued, “But I have a favor to ask of you…make sure you come back or my brother Kahn will kill me.”

It took a moment before Reeve burst into laughter. Shaking his head, he muttered, “Asshole.”

“Hey, that’s Alpha Asshole to you,” Heath said, chuckling.

“Fuck you,” Reeve replied.

“Hey, boys,” Tristan said, smiling. “Let’s save the fighting for Rudy.”

Groose walked up to Tristan. “Sir, everyone has been outfitted and all that’s left is for a sound check.”

“Thank you, Groose, please proceed with it,” Tristan said. “By the way, Reeve will be accompanying you.”
