“I’m all ears,” Kahn said, smiling.

“Last night, I checked the real estate listings and found a condo with three bedrooms, two and a half baths, and close to yourcondo. I made an appointment to see it this morning and would love it if you went with me.”

“Of course I’ll go…uhm…but Mom…I don’t mean to be nosey, but you do know San Francisco is super expensive. And based on what Reeve said, I don’t think you’d be able to access any of Josiah’s bank accounts. I wish I had the money to give you…”

“Stop right there, sweety. While I appreciate the thought, I don’t need your money. Maybe you don’t know this, but my parents left the bulk of their estate to me in a trust…enough to buy the condo and live comfortably for a very long time.”

“No I didn’t,” Kahn murmured. “Would CeCe and Suzie live with you?”

“Yes, until they choose to leave. They’ll each have access to their own trust funds when they reach 21.”

“What about shifting? You can’t do it in the city. And have you checked out what schools are close by for them to attend?”

“Where do you go to shift?” his mom asked.

“Out to the land where the cabin is.”

“Then, that’s where we’ll go. And I’ve decided the girls will be home schooled by me.”

Staring at his mother, Kahn wondered where this version of her had been hiding all these years. Decisive, assertive—attributes he would never have used to describe her before. Sure, there were times where she stood up to Josiah, but never face-to-face, like the time she arranged for him to go to college. It was all done behind his back. However, it appeared Josiah’s death had liberated his mother in a way he never expected and he liked it.Slowly, a smile broke out on his face. “Okay…then let’s go and find you a home.”

“Finish your breakfast first while I wake up the girls.”

“Are they gonna come with us?” asked Kahn, shoveling a forkful of eggs into his mouth.

“No…they can see their new home once I buy it. This is not their decision,” his mother said, walking out of the kitchen.

Surprised, Kahn stared at her for a moment, then grinned. His sisters were going to be furious, but it was about time they learned the whole world didn’t revolve around them. Pushing his plate away, he pulled out his phone and called his mate. There was so much to tell him, but first he had to arrange a ride for himself and his mother.

“Cariño.”

Reeve’s deep voice sent shivers down Kahn’s spine and he felt his cock begin to swell. If he’d had any doubts about their mating, his reaction proved it was the real deal.

“Cariño?Are you all right?”

“Yesss…” Kahn replied, moaning softly as he tried to get his lust under control. Then, continuing in a stronger voice, he answered, “Yes, I’m fine.”

Chuckling, Reeve murmured, “I promise to take care of you later, cariño.”

Hearing his mother approach, Kahn quickly explained where they were headed. “So, should I call for a ride…”

“No, not necessary. We can take you. Are your sisters going along, too?”

“Nope, just Mom and me.”

“Okay…gimme a minute.” Quickly sending a message to one of his men, Reeve waited until his order was confirmed before saying, “Grant will drive you and your mother. Let me know what she decides. Either way, she’ll always be welcome in our home.”

Kahn smiled at his mate’s confirmation of his earlier offer for his mother to live with them. “Thanks, bab…uh…Reeve,” he said, suddenly realizing his mother had entered the room. “I’ll let her know.” Ending the call, he pretended to be busy checking his phone messages, unable to look his mother in the eye. “Uhh…that was Reeve…he’s gonna…we can go whenever you’re ready,” Kahn muttered, blushing deeply.

“Who’s Reeve?” his mother asked.

Quickly looking up, Kahn said, “Reeve…you know him.”

“I do…but what is he to you?”

“I don’t know what you mean,” Kahm mumbled, looking down at his phone again, knowing exactly what his mother was asking, but unsure about what her response would be to the news. Suddenly, his mother’s hands stilled his screen tapping, forcing his gaze upward.
