Bones unlocks me from his hold and takes me to Scar.
“I’ll be right behind you, baby.”
God, I hope so.
Scar leads me outside where there’s an army waiting for me. And my dad. He comes rushing to me and pulls me into his chest, hugging me almost too tight.
“Did they hurt you, sweetheart? Are you okay?”
“They didn’t hurt me. I’m fine.”
“Oh, thank God.” He hugs me tighter.
“You need to take her home, Pritchard. My men will be with you. As soon as we’re finished up here, we’ll meet you back there.”
“Come on, Zoey. Let’s go.”
I really don’t want to leave, but I know I have to.
My dad puts me in his car, and then goes around and gets in. We’re surrounded by Savage Knights as we drive off the property, heading back down the mountain, driving through town and back to our home. My dad apologizes profusely for sending me off with them. The remorse and regret is so thick in his voice. I can barely focus on his apologies. I’m scared to death that those evil snakes are going to hurt Bones. We took half oftheir army with us. What if there aren’t enough Savage Knights to keep him safe?
We go inside, and my dad looks me over, making sure there aren’t any marks on my face. Then he pulls me in for another hug, refusing to let me go.
“I don’t know what I would’ve done if anything had happened to you. I’m so sorry, sweetheart. I handed you right over to them. God, I’m so sorry.”
“It’s okay, Dad. You didn’t know. I know you were trying to keep me safe. I’m okay.”
But I’m not sure if Bones is okay.
When the rumble of motorcycles comes through the window, I quickly pull out of my dad’s arms and rush to the door.
Bones is driving down our drive.
He comes to a stop and cuts his engine. Then he climbs off and stalks me down, pulling me straight into his chest and holding me close. Now, I can finally breathe again.

Bones
My heart is pounding so fucking hard. Seeing the gun pointed at her head nearly did me in. I’ve never been so goddamn terrified.
“Shh… I got you, angel. You’re safe now. No one is ever going to touch you.”
“I was so worried about you. I didn’t want to leave you.”
“I know, baby. But I needed to get you to safety. That’s all that mattered.” Once she was off the property, I could breathe again. “You never have to worry about me. I will burn the earth down to keep you safe. No one will take me out. Come on, let’s get you back inside.” I don’t like her out in the open. Not until I know that Vicious has half a brain and won’t make a stupid move.
She’s like a monkey clinging to my hip as I walk her back inside. I need to let her dad know that the matter has been dealt with. Vicious is going to leave him alone. In fact, Pritchard willbe receiving a hefty donation to his campaign. I’m not giving all the money back. Those fuckers need to pay for what they’ve done. And if they ever try this shit again, I’ll be releasing the video.
I played it for the Vicious vermin to remind him of how incriminating it is. His eyes gave him away as he watched. He knows he’ll burn in hell if it ever got out. I also told him that I have their hit list, along with all the locations of the dead bodies. Everything will be turned over to the authorities if they ever fuck with Pritchard or us again. He wasn’t about to call my bluff by the time I left. But if he does, he won’t live to see another day.
He's lucky I left him breathing. He had his hands on my woman. His gun aimed at her temple. I want to ride back and take him out.
“The matter’s been dealt with, sir,” I tell Pritchard as King and the others enter behind me. “You won’t have any further issues from him. But if you do, you know who to call.”
“Thank you,” Pritchard states. He steps forward and holds out his hand. “I am beyond grateful for what you did. After the way I treated you, you didn’t have to help me. I’m forever in your debt.”
“You don’t owe me a thing. I would never let anyone hurt this girl.”
