When Ig laughed, it was a beautiful, full sound that attracted a few stares.

“He’s not proposing to her,” Ig informed me.

“Everyone’s waiting for it.”

“They’ll be waiting a long time. If he even thought about it, I’d rip his head off.”

“Wait. You —”

“And Elva. Yes.”

The irrational anger I felt dissipated from my chest.

“Although, we’ve kept it quiet. Not entirely sure the council would approve since they’d very much like for Elva and Gray to settle together.”

“So, they aren’t?”

“They’re good friends. Work close together but they’ve never been anything more.”

I chewed on my bottom lip.

“You got jealous very easily, Scott. You want to be careful with that,” he warned me with a smug smile.

“I wasn’t jealous.”

“Do mortals call it something else?”

When I’d seen Archer with Quentin, I’d lost it. If my ward hadn’t been placed around her, Archer would have known exactly what she was, and I couldn’t risk that happening.

As she stormed past me to go back inside, hanging off his arm, I destroyed two of the stone benches on the grounds before going to find them.

Standing by the wall of my throne room, I watched them and allowed the anger to course through my veins, making my blood white-hot.

She was angry at me and I’d no idea what I’d done to piss her off, when a single word hadn’t been exchanged between us since we arrived home. My hands balled into fists when Archer pulled her closer and rested his hands on her hips.

“Are you planning on destroying your entire house?” Ig asked, joining me. His tie was loose around his neck, and he wore a grin. I didn’t reply, and he followed my eye line before sighing. “I thought she was just sex.”

“She is, but that doesn’t mean I want anyone else around her,” I muttered sullenly.

“What about that mortal she’s dating?”

I snorted. Holden wasn’t a threat. Quen kept coming back to me, no matter how much she told herself she shouldn’t.

“Try reining it in, Gray, or you’re going to have a lot more questions coming your way,” Ig said.

I had enough of seeing them together. I pushed myself from the wall, but Ig caught my shoulder.

“Let me,” he said.

He strode off towards them, and I watched. The moment Archer kissed her cheek, the row of crystal glasses and the punch bowl on the table near me shattered. I repaired them instantly and got a few curious stares.

“Calm. Down.”

Erik appeared next to me and when I looked back to the floor, Archer had disappeared, and Ignacio was with her.

“Grayson, I honestly think you should stop whatever you have with her. This.” He gestured vaguely. “It’s becoming too much. There’s more at risk now,” Erik explained.

“I shouldn’t have brought her here,” I admitted quietly.
