David’s lips twitched at the corners.
“Shut up,” I muttered.
I eyed the spot where Ben had devoured me whole last night. I’d never come harder in my life, and I’d also never felt so out of control.
Ben was getting into my head. Or maybe he was getting intomy heart. Either way, I was growing way too attached to having him around. He’d found a chink in my armor, and now he was under my skin.
I’d gone into the bathroom this morning to talk to him about taking a break from all this time we’d been spending together, and I’d ended up bent over and crying out his name into the shower tiles. The things he’d said... that man’s mouth was filthy, and I loved it.
Brian snapped his fingers in front of my face, startling me from my thoughts.
I swatted his hand away. “Why are you doing that?”
“Because I was asking you a question and you couldn’t hear me over your dirty daydreaming.”
“I wasn’t daydreaming about Ben,” I snarled.
Brian laughed as David shook his head at me.
“I never said you were daydreaming abouthim, but obviously he was on your mind, or you wouldn’t have brought him up,” Brian said, sliding a sandwich in front of David.
I glanced in David’s direction, looking for backup.
“He didn’t say anything about Ben,” he said in answer to my pleading expression.
“Mierda,” I muttered.
Brian plopped into the chair at the end of the table, giving me a smug look as hetook a bite of his sandwich.
“You doing okay?” he asked, mouth full.
“Swallow before you talk to me,” I said, irked for several reasons that were hard to express.
He was the one who told Ben to come over. He was the one who had forced the issue when I’d been trying to keep space and boundaries and not fall for the playboy who happened to be the best sex of my life as well as the man of my dreams. And now, he was the one who was calling me out when Benwas constantly on my mind.
I hated feeling this vulnerable.
“Oh honey, I always swallow,” Brian drawled, waggling his brows while he continued to chew.
David snorted. I stared Brian down, pursing my lips to prevent them from curving upward in a smile. “I can’t believe you told Ben to come over here last night,” I said.
“You didn’t seem to mind this morning when he had you in the shower,” he mumbled around his sandwich.
David’s brows hit his hairline.
He gotmore than he bargained for coming over before me and Brian had time to hash this out. He was about to get dinneranda show.
I gripped the wine opener that was sitting on the tablein my hand, considering the perks of launching it at Brian’s stupid face.
David’s hand snaked out to grab it from me before I could. “Let’s put the weapons down, Eve,” he said, voice calm like always.
“You were in shock. I didn’t want you alone after everything that happened yesterday,” Brian reasoned.
“So, you thought Ben was the person to call?”
He shrugged. “You’re always happy and giddy after you see him. I thought he would be a good distraction for you. A fun one. Look me in the eye and tell me I wasn’t right. That he wasn’t exactly what you needed.”
I met his gaze, opening my mouth to tell him he was wrong, but nothing came out. I hated to admit it, but it had been a good distraction. A distraction that I’d desperately needed after yesterday. And after being thoroughly fucked, I’d slept like a baby.
