Getting in my car, I sat there trying to figure out how Ava knew where I was at. If Shane wasn’t out running his mouth, how did she figure it out? Grabbing my cellphone, I tried calling Ava. I figured I could get her to talk to me instead of fighting and having to be confronted by her sister if she was at my house. The call went straight to voicemail letting me know that she had me on block.

“Damn, damn, damn!” I shouted as I hit my steering wheel.

Taking a chance, I headed to my house in hopes that Ava was there alone so that she and I could talk. I didn’t need to have Dawn all up in my business, so I hoped that she was not there. But as luck would have it, Dawn’s car was parked in our driveway. Shaking my head, I pulled off then called Tate, praying he would be home.

“What’s up, bro?” Tate asked, answering the phone.

“Hey dude, you at home?”

“Yeah, you coming by?”

“Oh, thank God!” I rejoiced. “Yeah man, I’m on my way.”

“Is everything okay?”

“Man, hell nah!”

“What done happened now?” Tate asked.

“Dude, you wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”

“Try me.” He laughed, not realizing that I was dead ass serious.

“Man, Ava caught me at her friend Shane’s house.”

“The gay dude she be hangin’ with?”

“Yeah, bro!”

“J, what the hell, man! I didn’t know you were fucking around with dude. When did that shit start?”

“A while ago, bro.”

“Damn, dude, why would you play with fire like that?” Tate asked.

“Man, it just happened. I feel fucked up about the shit too ‘cause I never thought she would find out.”

“How did she find out?”

“She and I got into an argument last night, and I left and went to Shane’s. I ended up spending the night. The next thing I know, she showed up at his front door with Dawn this morning.”

“WORD!” Tate exclaimed. “How the hell did she know you were over there?”

“I wish I knew,” I pondered.

“That shit sounds like a set up. Do you think dude set you up?”

“Nah, ‘cause the way her sister was beatin’ his ass, I believe they were just as surprised to see me at his house as we were to see them.”

“Damn, bro, that’s some crazy ass shit.”

“Tell me about it. Now Ava talkin’ about we done with, and for some reason, I believe her this time. The look on her face and in her eyes was different. Not just that, but she took off her rings and threw them at me before she left. Man, I really fucked up this time!”

“Damn, I don’t even know what to say. I’m still lowkey tripping off the fact that you and ol’ boy was fuckin’ around. Never would I have ever guessed that shit. I always thought y’all couldn’t stand one another.”

“Nah man, we couldn’t let Ava know we were cool like that. Of all the dumb shit I could think to do, why on earth did I have to let this shit happen?”

“That’s a very good question. So, what you gonna to do now?”
