There was an open space to the right where I imagined a living room would be. We could separate it visually from the entrance with a dresser or something. The kitchen was in the room to the left with a window overlooking the backyard. I could imagine making cookies with Charlotte on the counter and the little one as well.

“I can see us here,” I told Beckett.

He stood behind me, wrapping both arms around my waist. “I can see us too. But let’s move through the rest of the house.”

I was very excited to start a life with this man. I loved my shotgun house, but I was a realist. It was too small for a family. No way could Beckett and Charlotte move in with me. And my yard was nothing compared to this one. The realtor was right. The one in the back, which opened up from the living room, was huge and well hidden from the neighbors.

“This reminds me of Chad’s yard,” Beckett said.

There was a bedroom downstairs and three more on the upper level, all en suite. I adored this house even though it needed some love. The floorboards were just a bit too creaky, and the windows were slightly stuck, but I could see us being happy here.

“We could throw Charlotte’s first birthday party in the backyard.”

Beckett grinned at me. “I love that you’re already making plans.”

“I havesomany. You have no idea. I’m full of them.”

“Then let’s go and give the realtor the good news, then.”

I was so excited to start this new chapter in our life.

Beckett was incredible, taking my hand and helping me downstairs quickly. Excitement coursed through me and through him as well. We’d found our house. How amazing was that? Everything was falling into place quickly.

Outside, the realtor was sitting on the porch. He immediately rose to his feet.

“We’re taking it,” Beckett said. “But we also want to take a tour with you first.”

“Not too long, though,” I chimed in. “I still want us to go back to Fragrant Delights after.”

Beckett laughed. “Of course you do.”

I truly believed in what his grandmothers were doing. And I needed all the magic they could give me for this amazing stage in our life.

First Epilogue

“Are you ready? How are you feeling, darling?” Mom asked.

She and Dad were standing with me under the shade of the huge tree right next to St. Louis Cathedral.

“I’m a bit jittery.” I looked down at myself. My white wedding dress was absolutely stunning. I couldn’t stop staring at it. “I love this dress. It’s beautiful.”

My dress was princess style. Even though it was specifically for maternity, it still felt just a little bit too snug under my breasts, but it showed off my baby bump nicely. When we wentshopping, the store clerk asked if I wanted to camouflage my pregnancy, and I said, “Hell no.” I was very proud of my baby.

“You’re beautiful,” Dad said.

“I can’t believe we pulled off the wedding so quickly,” I confessed.

Mom smiled. “The LeBlancs are very good at organizing things.”

Beckett and I decided shortly after making an offer on the house that we wanted the wedding to happen before the baby was here. The church had a free spot today, so we had three months to plan the wedding. As Mom said, the LeBlancs were whizzes at such things. I didn’t even have to lift a finger.

“Is it time for us to go in?” I asked, shifting my weight from one foot to the other.

“I’m so happy for you, darling girl,” Mom said. “I had a good feeling about Beckett right from the beginning.”

Dad cleared his throat. “Yeah, I wasn’t that sold, but he’s a good man.”
