Despite the intensity of Raxx’s exhaustion, after Faye had unwittingly transferred some of her energy to him, it hadn’t taken long until his majick had regenerated.
Upon waking, his confusion had been fleeting whilst he pieced together the events from the night before. He felt great, better than he had in years, yet every figment of his being felt like a spring, coiled tight and pent up.
The demon had spent hours pacing around his room, like a caged animal. Any attempt to distract himself failed miserably. He picked up books, keen to understand the strange phenomenon he and Faye were experiencing, yet moments later he would find himself staring into space, absorbed by thoughts of the princess.
Raxx felt as if he were possessed. He had been attracted to Faye before their mysterious energy transfer, but whatever she’d done had heightened everything tenfold. He couldn’t stop thinking about her.
All day, the demon’s mind had been tormenting him with memories of the first night they had met. He replayed watching her having that private moment with herself, over and over. At the time, he had felt embarrassed and a little awkward, but now he found himself desperate to relive it. How Raxx had scoffed at that silly romance book and yet look at him now. He could barely containhispassion and his body ached – but not for a fictional princess. His princess was very real.
They arrived in his room. The demon dropped Faye gently onto his bed and sprang away from her, concerned if he remained too close, he might lose control of himself.
Given the events that had passed between them, Raxx was fairly confident the princess found him attractive. However, despite the fevered state he was in, he was also aware Faye probably had little to no experience with sex, outside of romance books.
Raxx may havelookedlike a monster, but that didn’t mean he was going to behave like one. He would contain his desire, hold it back, until the princess gave him her consent. Until then, he would do his best to make her comfortable and relaxed.
The demon’s heart hammered in his chest simply at the thought of being intimate with the pretty faerie. He glanced over his shoulder and found Faye gazing back at him intently.
“What is going on with you, Raxx?” she asked, eyes narrowing. “There’s something you’re not telling me.”
“Let me get you something to eat.” The demon evaded the question, but he knew he wouldn’t be able to hide from this forever. Faye was already suspicious. He needed to pull himself together.
The princess nodded in thanks.
Raxx tried his best to calm his shaking hands as he gathered together a basic meal of bread and fruit. He poured a cup of wine for her. He grabbed a second cup for himself, yet hesitated before he poured another helping of wine. Would alcohol help or hinder him? The demon shook himself and placed the bottle back on the side. Probably best to keep his already muddled head as clear as he could.
One thing was for certain, if he didn’t snap out of this soon there was no way they would be able to meet Tabitha again this night. The witch would take one look at him and know exactly what he was struggling with. He couldn’t bear it. He would rather suffer Tabitha’s wrath for disobeying her wishes and not take Faye to her at all.
“Are you not having a glass?” Faye asked as she took the plate and wine from his outstretched hands.
“I’m fine.”
The faerie looked into the cup and lowered her nose to sniff at it.
Raxx laughed and shook his head. “It’s not poisoned, princess.”
“Then why aren’t you drinking it?” Faye held out the wine out to him expectantly.
Raxx rolled his eyes and took the cup from her, taking a large swig of wine. He swallowed it and handed it back.
“Satisfied?”
“I would be, if you were having a drink with me.”
“Why this sudden fascination about my thirst?” Raxx snapped defensively.
The princess scowled. “Honestly? Because you seem really on edge and it’s making me nervous. Have a glass of wine. Sit and talk with me, like we did before.” She shot him a shy smile and Raxx barely contained a groan.
“Alright,” he conceded. Perhaps the princess was right, maybe a glass of wine would calm his disposition.
Raxx poured himself a cup of wine and stood awkwardly, watching Faye picking at her meal. She glanced up at him and nodded her head to the bed beside her.
“There’s plenty of room.”
“I’ll stand,” the demon replied.
“For goodness sake, what is wrong with you?” Faye huffed. “Sit down.”
He hesitated.
