“Yeah, just alittle. You know? Skosh.”
“I know whatskosh means, Huck.” She let out a frustrated huff. “It’s called ‘better safethan sorry.’ If we’re missing anything, we’ll send a recruit out to get it.”
I sighed. “Okay, are we stopping back at the condo first, or heading straight to the club?”
“Headingstraight to the club,” she said. “Unless you need to stop?”
“I’m good.”
“Are you sure, because we’ll probably be there until late.”
“Baby?”
She turnedtoward me. “Yes?”
“Take a breath,”I said, taking her hand again and giving it a squeeze. “Why are you so amped?”
She bit her lip.“I’m just worried about you.”
“Don’t be.”
“That’s liketelling me not to breathe.”
“What helpsmore? Wine or tequila?”
“For what?”
“For you tochill the fuck out?”
She let out aquiet snort. “Oh, tequila, definitely.”
“Right, firstorder of business is to get you a shot.” I raised an eyebrow. “Or twelve.”
“I can getbehind that plan,” she said with a grin.
“Remind me howto get to the club,” I said, and she directed me into Beaverton.
We pulled intoBig Ernie’s twenty minutes later and parked around the back, then I followedDaisy inside.
The second weentered the building, Teagan rushed to Daisy’s side and pulled her in for ahug, while Buzz bellowed, “Huck the Puck, get your ass over here!”
Daisy grinned upat me. “Go with Buzz, I’ll find you in a few.”
“You sure youdon’t wanna have my six?”
“Suck my dick,big man.”
I laughed, leaning down to kiss her quickly. “Later.”
She gave mybeard a parting tug then followed Teagan into the kitchen, while I made my wayover to Buzz. He slapped me on my back and handed me a beer.
“Thanks, man,” Isaid, and twisted off the top.
“Come on outback and I’ll introduce you to a couple of the recruits.”
I nodded, and weheaded out one of the sliding glass doors.
“Huck, this isGrip, and this is Hammer,” Buzz said, leaning in closer to me. “As in, dumb asa bag of hammers.”
