This wasfrightening and I didn’t know how to process what had just happened.
Phin walked intothe cabin a few minutes later and joined me on the floor, wrapping his armsaround me, calming me instantly. “I’ve got you.”
“I don’t think Iran here, honey.”
“I know, love.”
“So how the heckdid I get here so fast?”
“You must havesome sort of super speed. I don’t know?”
“What do youmean, you don’t know? You’re supposed to know everything.”
“I’m sorry, love. There’s far too much about our kind for anyone to know entirely, even forsomeone with my upbringing and education. But I know someone who can help.”
I gripped hisarms. “Who?”
“My aunt Fiona. She’s the keeper of our ancient texts and knows all of our history. If anyoneknows anything about what just happened, it’ll be her.”
“I was freakingout before you got here.”
“I know, love.”
“No, you don’tget it,” I pressed. “If you let go of me, I’m going to freak out again, soyou’re going to have to keep hold of me for the rest of the day. Maybe theweek.” I blew breath out through my lips, making a raspberry sound. “Maybe forthe rest of the year… or my life.”
He gave me agentle smile, helping me up as he stood, making sure he didn’t let me go. “I’llgive Fiona a ring, then we can head back to the castle.”
“Um, no, youpromised me naked time.”
“You’re right. Idid. Are you sure you’re up to that?”
I raised aneyebrow. “Are you questioning my ability to compartmentalize, sir?”
“I wouldnever.”
I bit my lip.“Good, but still don’t let go of me, you know, because…”
“Wrap your armsaround me, love, while I call Fi.”
He pulled outhis phone and I wrapped my arms around him, sliding one of my hands under hisshirt, needing to touch his skin.
“Hey, Fi.” Hegrinned. “Aye. Aye, we’re planning it as we speak. I’m going to put you onspeaker.” He pressed a button and held the phone between us.
“Hi Lennox,”Fiona said.
“Um, hi.”
“Can’t wait tomeet you in person, love.”
I smiled. “Me,too.”
“To what do Iowe the pleasure?” she asked.
“Well, we had astrange little blip today,” Phin said.
“Blip is right,”I mumbled.
Phineas filledher in on what happened, and she let out a quiet whistle. “Wow.”
