“Where is he?” I asked.

“He was at the club late, so he’s probably still asleep.”

“Coffee?” I asked.

“No, I’m good.” She smiled up at me. “Do you want hash browns and eggs as well?”

“Are you already making them?”

“Honey, your father is home, what do you think?”

I chuckled. “Then, yeah, I’d love some. Thanks.”

Dad walked in a few minutes later, pulling his hair back as he walked. My mother bit her lip and smiled up at him as he approached her, leaning down to kiss her deeply before giving her ass a pat. “Hey, Sunshine.”

“Hi. How’d you sleep?”

“Good, baby. Sorry I woke you last night.”

“No complaints, love.”

“Um, parentals.” I raised my hand. “Child here. Keep that talk to a minimum.”

Dad dropped his head back and laughed, kissing my mother again, closer to an R-rating than the earlier PG, obviously to dig at me.

“You comin’ to the club tomorrow night?” Dad asked, pouring himself a cup of coffee.

“Wasn’t plannin’ on it. Do you need me to?”

“Not necessarily.”

“I’m takin’ Tate out after my flight, but if you need me, I’ll move things around. I’ll also be there tonight for church.”

“It can keep,” Dad said.

“You sure?”

“Yeah.” He slid the coffee pot back onto the warmer, then sat at the table.

Mom slid plates filled with food in front of us, just as Jamie limped in looking a little rough.

“What happened to you?” I asked.

“Cheap tequila.”

I smirked. “Amateur.”

He grinned, hugging Mom before pouring a cup of coffee. “Indeed.”

Dad looked up from his phone. “Learned your lesson?”

“Yeah, Pops, I absolutely did.”

He gave him a chin lift, then went back to his phone until Mom tugged it out of his hand. “No phones at the table, love. Nice try.”

Dad wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her onto his lap. “Wasn’t plannin’ on family breakfast, Sunshine.”

She tugged on his beard. “And yet, here we are, and there areno phones at the table.”
