“Sorry, honey,” Bellamy crooned, rushing to my bedside, Brianna close to her.

“What’s going on?” I asked, trying to sit up.

“Don’t move,” Dad ordered.

“Why were you two bickering?” I asked, patting the bed, inviting Brianna to sit beside me. She did so immediately and took my hand.

“No reason,” Dad said at the same time Bellamy said, “Leo’s missing.”

“Jesus, Bell,” Dad hissed.

“What do you mean, missing?” I squeaked.

“Jekyll’s working on it,” Dad said, scowling at Bellamy.

“What happened? Did he run away?” I rasped out, unable to stop a moan as pain shot through my hip.

“Nothing like that,” Dad said. “But don’t worry. Everything is under control.”

I frowned at my dad, then focused on Bellamy. “What happened?”

“There was a break in at Walker House.”

“A break in? Is everyone okay?”

“Some bad men came and smashed up everything in the house,” Brianna said. “They took Leo while the rest of us hid.”

“What?” I cried, my blood turning ice cold. “Who were they? What do they want with Leo?”

“We don’t know, but your biker friend showed up and is out looking for him now,” Bellamy said.

“How does Jekyll know about all this?”

“Leo called him as soon as the men broke in, but Jekyll was too late. They’d already taken Leo by the time he’d arrived.” Bellamy squeezed my hand. “Jekyll really cares about Leo, Indy.”

“He told you that?”

She shook her head. “Of course not. He was trying his best to hide it, but I know when someone cares about a kid. Jekyll said he was going to find Leo, and for some reason I believed him.”

“Is Leo gonna be okay?” Brianna whispered.

“Jekyll’s gonna make sure he is baby,” I said, hopefully, grimacing when Brianna shifted.

“Careful of Indy, Bri,” Bellamy warned.

“Sorry,” she said.

“You’re fine. Why don’t you stretch out beside me?”

She did, snuggling gently into me and I stroked her hair. She fell asleep almost immediately.

“She hasn’t been sleeping since you got attacked,” Bellamy said.

I frowned. “Why is this the first time I’m hearing about it?”

“Oh, I don’t know,” Bellamy hiss-pered. “Maybe because you’ve been unconscious?”

“Don’t get pissy with me, Bell.”
