“I’m going to pour myself a glass of wine while you do sleep duty,” I said. “I’ll just say goodnight, then meet you downstairs.”

Stoney raised and eyebrow. “Oh, really?”

“Yep.” I grinned. “It’s nice to have a break.” I walked into Felix’s room, hugged and kissed him goodnight, then went downstairs and opened a fresh bottle of wine.

I could seriously get used to this.

Sabrina

Friday arrived and I was so unbelievably excited to see my bestie, I could barely contain it. I dropped Felix off at my parents’ right after school, then headed home to get ready.

Viviana wanted to hit up Nocturn after dinner. It was a great nightclub downtown, and I decided it would be better to grab a rideshare rather than drive, so she parked in my driveway and we finished getting ready at my place.

Viviana was a drop-dead gorgeous redhead as feisty as her hair would suggest. She was tall and athletic, a track star in high school, so much so, she got a full ride to university. She chose optometry as her specialty and finished her degree two years early. She was kind of a rock star.

“Can you help me with these eyelashes, please?” I said, holding the package out.

“But of course,” she said. “Have a seat.”

“So, what’s up with that Isaac guy? Did he call you back?”

She sighed, applying glue to a lash. “Yes. He’s nice. He’s just so...I don’t know...”

“Beta?”

“I was going to say weak, but beta’s probably more accurate.” She smiled. “What about Stoney?”

“Oh, he’s alpha all the way.”

Viviana laughed. “Yeah, I got that impression. Anything happen after the kiss?”

“More kissing,” I said.

“Whoa, really?” she asked, and I waited to answer until after she got the lashes on my right eye.

“Yes.” I sighed. “He’s so good at it, Vivi.”
