“Yep. I’ll buy you flowers.”
I smiled. “I don’t really need the flowers.”
“Gonna fuckin’ buy my woman flowers.”
“Okay, Sunny, flowers would be nice.”
My doorbell rang, bringing my thoughts back to the present, and I made my way to the door and checked the peephole.
“Hi,” I said, pulling open the door.
“Hey, baby, you look pretty.”
I wore a dark pair of skinny jeans and knee-high boots with a blue, V-neck, flowery blouse that tied at the waist.
“Thanks. So do you.”
Sundance chuckled, leaning down to kiss me gently. “I look pretty?”
“So, so pretty,” I sassed as he handed me a giant bouquet of orange roses. “Wow,” I breathed out. “These are beautiful. How did you know I wasn’t a red rose girl?”
“You own nothing red, other than wine, so I took a guess.”
I pressed my body against his, leaning up on my tiptoes to kiss his neck. “Let’s stay in.”
He grinned, giving my bottom a pat. “As much as that tempts me, we’ve got a reservation at the Overland, so I’m takin’ you out.”
The Overland was an exclusive restaurant inside the swanky Overland Arms Hotel and almost impossible to get in without at least a month’s notice. “You got us in at the Overland?”
“Yep. Used to sell the head chef weed.”
“Technically, you sell everyone weed,” I pointed out.
“True.”
“But you’re talking about under the table, off the books, aren’t you?”
He raised an eyebrow. “Do you wanna go eat, or stand here and discuss my business dealings?”
“I’d honestly like you to eat me.”
“You were also the one who wanted us to get out of our bubble and see how we ‘fit’ on the outside.”
“I have no recollection of that. That would make me crazy and I’m pretty sure I’m not crazy.”
“No, you’re not crazy, but you do have selective amnesia.”
I rolled my eyes. “Then I better put these in water before I forget about them.”
He closed my door and followed me into the kitchen where I set the flowers in a vase of water and grabbed my purse.
As I walked past him, Sundance slid his arm around my waist and pulled me to him. “Hey.”
I smiled up at him. “Yes?”
“My tongue’ll do its magic later. Promise.”
Shivering, I kissed him quickly. “I’m going to hold you to that.”
