As requested, I fucked her dirty.

One year later...

“Welcome to the bureau, Agent Quinn,” Matt said, shaking my hand.

I forced myself not to squeal like a little girl who’d just been given a pony, but it was almost impossible not to. He handed me my official badge and gun, and then turned me to face the Portland Bureau office I’d be working for on a permanent basis.

I bit back happy tears as I beamed at Jaxon, my husband, my best friend, my partner in every way. He was the man who’d stood beside me and never let me quit. And, believe me, there had been days when I wanted to.

Brock and Dallas let out a holler before they lifted me off my feet and hugged me as they congratulated me and welcomed me to the team.

“Okay, assholes, get your hands off my forensic accountant,” Jaxon demanded, pulling me into his arms and kissing me deeply. “I’m so proud of you, Rufus.”

It was just the five of us in Matt’s office, or Jaxon would have never been so affectionate with me. We worked hard to keep our private life private, and did our best to stay as distant as possible when we were working. Don’t get me wrong, we stole kisses in the supply cabinet as often as we could, but we never kissed in front of any of our coworkers...well, other than the three standing with us now.

I smiled up at him, no longer able to keep the tears from slipping down my cheeks. “Thanks, honey.”

I had been hired on with the FBI a year ago, after passing every test, exam, psych eval, and even a math test (no joke), but it had been on a probationary period until they felt I was a good fit for the bureau.

After ninety days, I was hired on permanently to work in the forensics department where I made a lot of headway with my career as a whole. What I wasn’t expecting was that I’d actually be hired onto the elite Matthew Quinn team.

Only the best of the best were even looked at, and nepotism was highly frowned upon, so since I was his sister-in-law, I was sure I would never have the chance.

What I didn’t know was that my supervisor had put me in for a commendation after finding the gnat shit in pepper that solved a really nasty case we’d been working on six months ago, and then my supervisor’s supervisor decided to put me in the running for a place on Matt’s team.

I almost said no.

Almost.

Jaxon convinced me to reconsider and even though it took a few weeks of thinking it over, I agreed to let my boss’s boss submit my transfer paperwork. I needed to make sure that should I get the job, longshot though it was, no one thought it was because of who my husband was. And by the time I actually got the news I was transferred onto the team, evenIknew it had nothing to do with who I knew.

“Tonight we celebrate,” Jaxon decreed.

“With all of us,” Brock added. “If you think we can keep Bailey and Macey away from showering praise on their girl, you’ve got another thing coming.”
