I laughed and slid off the bed. Once I cleaned up and put on one of his T-shirts, I made my way to the kitchen to see what I could create.

After dinner, Jaxon offered to do the dishes while I soaked in his kickass clawfoot tub, and I didn’t object. Lord, I needed this. The hotel had a hot tub, but I hadn’t had a proper bath in ages.

“You want some company?” Jaxon asked from the doorway.

I’d been soaking for close to twenty minutes and was debating getting out or adding more hot water.

“Depends on who the company is,” I retorted.

He grinned, leaning down to kiss me quickly, just as his doorbell pealed through the house.

“Fuck,” he breathed out, sliding his phone out of his jeans pocket. “It’s Brock. Raincheck.”

I nodded and watched him walk away.

Ipulled open the doorand forced a smile. “Hey, brother.”

“Hey. Figured you’d want to see what I found,” Brock said, and stepped inside.

“You could have called.”

He raised an eyebrow. “I could have, you’re right. But I—”

“Hi,” Harmony said, and I met her eyes. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt, I was just going to grab some water.”

Jesus, she looked cute with her hair piled back on top of her head, tight yoga leggings, and an off the shoulder sweatshirt. I wanted to kick Brock out of my house and peel her out of her clothes.

“No problem,” Brock said. “I’m Brock, it’s nice to meet you.”

“Harmony.” She shook his hand. “Nice to meet you, too. I’ll get out of your hair.”

She grabbed a bottled water, gave me a sweet smile, then headed back to my bedroom.

“So it’s like that, huh?” Brock mused.

“Not a fuckin’ word,” I warned. “Remember, I kept my mouth shut about Bailey.”

Brock raised his hands in surrender, but I didn’t miss his shit-eating grin. “Message received.”

“What did you find?” I grumbled and he spread the files across my kitchen table.

Iheard the beep ofthe alarm about an hour into a rerun of House, and peeked into the hallway. “Jax?”

“All clear,” he called and I padded out to the kitchen where papers were strewn about the table.

“Do you recognize this guy?” he asked, pointing to a file.

I leaned over and studied the photo. My stomach churned and I nodded. “That’s Graham. He’s Billy’s on-again/off-again boyfriend. Why?”

“He’s the one who bought the rat, amongst other things. He paid the kid we caught a grand to deliver it.”
