Jayson looked down at Lana’s resting face. His heart was racing just being near her.

She was his everything. He couldn’t lose her.

“I’m so sorry, Lana. This is all my fault. Please forgive me. I’ll make it up to you. I promise. I love you so fucking much.”

Jayson kissed her hand and held on for dear life. Several minutes later, a nurse came in with an ultrasound machine.

“What’s that for?” Rocky questioned before he could.

“Oh, we’re checking on the bun in the oven. Her bloodwork showed a high number of HGC levels. So, the doc ordered an ultrasound to make sure everything is okay before he releases her.”

Jayson looked up at Rocky in shock at what the nurse had just told them. He gently woke up Lana, letting her know he was there and what the nurse wanted to do.

“I-I’m pregnant?” Lana asked groggily.

“According to your bloodwork, yes. We just want to make sure everything is okay with the baby before we release you.”

When Lana turned her worried eyes to him, all he could do was move to sit on the bed and hold her in his arms. He knew she was worried about his reaction.

“It’s okay, baby. Yeah, it’s sooner than we’d want. But we’ve not been cautious when we’ve made love. I’m not going anywhere, Lana. I love you to infinity and beyond. You are it for me. I missed your pregnancy with the twins. I won’t miss this one.”

Jayson fused his lips to Lana’s, pouring his heart out into that kiss. When she returned his kiss just as feverishly, he rejoiced.

“Seriously? Knock it off so this woman can do her job before you wind up with another kid without trying.”

Jayson couldn’t help the laughter that bubbled up at Rocky’s annoyance. He winked at Lana before turning to the other woman.

“Ryan’s in the waiting room if you need to release some of that pent-up tension.”

“Fuck you, Kenwood. Now let this woman do her job so we can find out if my niece or nephew is okay.”

Only because he wanted the same thing, he relented his teasing of Rocky and moved to the chair. When he heard a rhythmic “thump thump” his own heart stopped.

“What’s that sound?” Jayson asked worriedly.

“Our baby’s heartbeat,” Lana softly answered.

“Why does it sound like it’s double timed?” Rocky asked in confusion.

“Fuck! Not again,” Lana groaned, a hand going to her head.

Jayson thought something was wrong with the two women’s statement. He worriedly looked at the nurse, who was lost in concentration on her screen.

“Well, that may be because it looks like you’re having twins. Here’s sack one and here’s sack two. Still too early for gender reveal, but both heartbeats are strong. Do twins run in your families?” The nurse looked at Lana and Jayson.

“Not to my knowledge. I’ll have to ask my parents,” Jayson replied, his mind still in overdrive.

Twins…Again!?!

“They do in mine. My dad was a twin, but his brother died in a car accident when they were sixteen. Drunk driver,” Lana whispered softly as her eyes stayed glued to the ultrasound screen.

“Damn, Kenwood. You need to leave the wife alone for a bit,” Rocky quipped, shaking her head at the news.

“Never. She’s irresistible to me.” Jayson smirked down at Lana.

“You’re lucky I love your ass, mister. We can’t afford to go through this right now. We have to deal with Hubbard,” Lana huffed at Jayson with a glare.

Jayson knew in that glare she wasn’t truly angry. She was worried she’d fail him and her team.
