“What does he no longer have?” Sunny asked, confusion loud and clear in her voice.

“His dick,” Lana answered, staring at Jayson. “It’s why Blevins is still alive. Only the original prez and maybe a handful of others, besides Jenkins, know Blevin’s no longer has his dick, or a working dick, I should say. He may use it to urinate, but sexually, he can no longer function. For a man, especially in Blevin’s shoes, his dick is his identity. So, if he wants to fuck, he had to use a dildo. If these women saw that and laughed at him, he rapes them, beats them, and then takes what he wants while making them pay for laughing at him. In Blevin’s mind, he’s getting back at Jenkins.”

“Knew you’d figure it out with two questions.” Jayson beamed at her.

“Jenkins took his manhood, so he’s going after sloppy seconds.” Rocky laughed. “Probably uses a dildo that’s ten times bigger than his shriveled up broken one.”

“You said no DNA or other evidence had been left behind at the crime scenes. Did the victims not fight back?” Sunny asked, chewing on the corner of her lower lip.

“They were restrained. We’re assuming, because of the lack of pubes, that he shaves down there.” Jayson shrugged. “I have to admit I’d be pissed if I couldn’t climax while fucking my girl.”

“Technically, you can achieve climax without coming physically. A male can reach subspace without ejaculation. It’s partly why BDSM is so popular. And there’s there the latest thing called Tantric Sex. Achieving an orgasm with just the touch ofeach other’s hand on each other, and their imagination,” Lana informed the group before opening her door and getting out.

“How the fuck does she know all of that?” Jayson asked in shock.

“She actually studies up on all of that. Books, videos, interviews, you name it. Your girl has a fucking masters degree in forensic psychology in relation to sex crimes and pedophiles. She’s our walking fucking encyclopedia on that shit,” Rocky cheerfully informed Jayson before getting out of the car to join Lana.

Lana couldn’t help the smile that played on her lips as she heard Rocky tell Jayson about her degrees. After what happened with Dani, she studied up on everything she could about sex crimes and what made people do the things they did.

She went to college online to earn her bachelor’s in criminal justice, then went on to get her masters. She did her masters as a double major in forensics and forensics psychology.

People fascinated her. They made her wonder what was going through their minds when they did the horrific things that they did in life.

That fascination and need to understand all of it made her a better detective. At least she thought so.

“You’re lost in thought again, Ice.”

“Something about Peter keeps gnawing at me. I can’t put my finger on it. Jayson has been lost knowing that Peter betrayed him. I don’t know how to help him,” Lana admitted to Rocky.

“Let’s get through the next couple of hours with the two families and then we can all sit down together, the team minus Jayson and Ryan, and brainstorm with you,” Rocky suggested, as she patted Lana’s shoulder.

“Yeah, let’s do that,” Lana agreed as she looked behind Rocky to see Jayson and Sunny coming up on them.

Lana and the group walked up to the porch and knocked on the door. When a woman answered, looking confused at them, Lana knew shit was about to start.

“Um, hi, can I help you?”

“Hi, Mrs. Blackman, I’m Officer Kenwood with the Hellburn Falls Sheriff’s Department. I’m here with Detectives Pennington, Stallone, and Goldsman. We’d like to talk to you about the missing person report you filed on your daughter, Patricia.”

“Again? I just talked to a Detective Brewer from your department. He told us he was the lead investigator on her disappearance and not to talk to anyone else.”

CHAPTER

THIRTY-ONE

Lana stared at the woman after her statement for several seconds. How the hell did Brewer get to the Blackmans before they did?

“When did Detective Brewer show up? Before or after you called 9-1-1?” Lana asked, noticing the woman’s husband approaching.

“Dennis showed up because I called him. We are friends from way back. He said he would handle it. Now why the fuck are you people here?”

“Weare here because we are the assigned detectives handling your daughter’s disappearance, not Detective Brewer,” Lana answered the man straightforward.

“No. I demand Dennis to handle my daughter’s case. Not you bitches. You aren’t from here and couldn’t care less about what happens to the people in this town!”

Lana placed her hand on Jayson’s arm when he started to respond. She counted to ten before she responded to the man.

“Mr. Blackman, I get that you would prefer someone you know handling your daughter’s case. Now, while Detectives Stallone and Goldsman here are from out of the state, I am from here. I know you worked for my father before his passing. Thesheriff requested my team to help with the fact that there are a slew of young girls going missing. That is our specialty. The chief and the mayor, for reasons I cannot share, took detective Brewer off of the original case and placed him on suspension. I know you care about your daughter, Mr. Blackman, but please allow us a chance to find her,” Lana softly and calmly reasoned with the man.
