The group put their dishes away and went to their vehicles. Lana knew why Sgt. Bueller included Ryan and Jayson the way she did.

It made her respect her team leader all the more. Her sergeant knew the families they were about to talk to would be more comfortable with a familiar face.

Jayson and Ryan were known to people in the county of Hellburn Falls. She and her team were outsiders to these people, so why would they care about a missing girl?

“Actually, Sarge, I was thinking for the Millers and the McKenzies, Jayson, Rocky, Hollywood, Cullen, and I could go talk to the McKenzies. You, Ryan, Swift, and Sunny take the Millers. You guys are softer, nicer than we are. Since their daughter was found, they’d more than likely open up to you. We can take the Mckenzie’s. We can push them harder there,” Lana suggested as she bit her lower lip.

“What are you thinking?”

“I don’t know. I can’t put my finger on it. I remember reading up on both girls when Jayson had mentioned them when we were looking at the body of Stacie Miller. Both fathers were members of local MCs.”

“She’s right. Miller is part of the Blue Kings, which is an older MC. They are a non-violent group which is mostly made up of officers from the local PD. I think he’s been there for about fifteen to sixteen years. Mckenzie is part of the Satan’s Enforcers MC. They are violent, but we don’t usually have a history of issues other than a few bar fights now and then.” Ryan snapped his fingers in remembrance.

“Holy shit! You’re thinking the moms are best friends behind the men’s back and that shit is what we can use to hit them with over the girls’ disappearance and death!” Rocky summarized her thoughts.

“Perfect disaster waiting to explode,” Lana agreed.

CHAPTER

THIRTY

Lana leaned her head back against the headrest as they pulled into the driveway of the Blackmans. Her mind had been whirling non-stop since she realized the backdrop idea that had been forming her in her mind.

Now she wanted to look at the files of the other girls that had gone missing. She had a running theory that had her hands itching to get to work.

“You’re twitching, Ice. What’s on that brain of yours?” Rocky called her out of her brain fog.

“Jayson, how many MCs are recognized here in Hellburn Falls County?”

“Including Satan’s Hellfire, Blue Kings, Satan’s Enforcers, and four others, we have maybe seven total that are known,” Jayson counted out.

“Seriously? Satan’s Hellfire and Satan’s Enforcers? Are any of the other four by chance Satan’s Balls or Satan’s Scrotum?” Rocky shook her head at Jayson.

“No.” Jayson laughed. “The Prezs for the Enforcers and Hellfires used to be friends. Both were prospects in the Enforcers at the same time. The prez for the Enforcers, Jenkins, got involved with a chick he saw at one of the clubs outside oftown. Unbeknownst to Jenkins, his bestie, Blevins had the hots for the same one. He made a play for her, got shot down, and she told Jenkins about it. Jenkins peacefully told his bestie the girl was his and to back off. Blevins decided to get retaliation for the blight. He raped and killed the girl, calling her club property since Jenkins never made her his old lady officially. Mind you, he’d just started seeing the woman. Shit went downhill from there. The club prez at the time kicked Blevins and those who back him up out of the club. Blevins started Satan’s Hellfire as a fuck you to the Enforcers.”

“I’m surprised Blevins survived this long,” Lana said, shock in her voice.

“He’s not without scars. There are several homicides that involve females as the victims that we believe are linked to Blevins, but we can’t link him physically to their deaths evidence wise.”

“Condoms?” Sunny asked, leaning forward in her seat.

“No,” was all Jayson replied.

“Okay, you’re going to have to elaborate,” Rocky huffed out, glaring at Jayson.

Lana stared at Jayson’s profile for several seconds as she considered all Jayson had said and hadn’t said. Questions started going through her mind now at what he’d just said.

“How bad did he assault them before killing them?”

Lana knew the answer to all the questions asked when Jayson looked at her. How, she couldn’t tell you.

“They were beaten pretty badly. Severe vaginal tearing. Sodomized. Jaw broken,” Jayson answered, ticking off each of the injuries on his fingers.

“Did they have a prior interest in Jenkins?” Lana asked, continuing her confirmation quest.

“Three of them did. One-night stands. Two turned Blevins down prior and admitted to friends that they had an interest inJenkins more. Four more were recent. They were dead ringers for the woman that Jenkins wound up marrying and officially made his old lady per the MC world lingo.”

“She’s protected, so Blevins can’t get to her. The others reminded him of what he no longer has, so he’s punishing them,” Lana concluded, smiling when she got a slight nod from Jayson.
