They both passed out, his front to her back, his arms wrapped around her tightly. She didn’t fight it, she needed his warmth to chase away her coldness.
CHAPTER
FIFTEEN
Lana woke up to the room starting to lose its light. Looking at her watch, it was almost five in the evening.
Holy shit! They had spent all morning and afternoon gorging themselves on each other.
They took short naps in between and a water break after around three or four. She would need a shower when she got back to her dad’s house.
Sliding out of the bed as quietly as she could, she grabbed her clothes and quickly got dressed. When she was as presentable as she could be, she wrote a quick note that she had to get home to the kids, and they could talk about his visits later when he’d had rest.
“Oh, hi. Who are you?”
Lana had just shut the front door when she heard the feminine voice behind her. When she whirled around, she came face to face with a beautiful brunette with whiskey-colored eyes, a sweet smile, and a huge baby bump that one hand rested on while she had a bag of what smelled like food in the other.
“Um, hi. Sorry, I was just leaving.” Lana panicked and tried to leave.
“Is Jayson home? I know he has shift tonight, so I was just dropping off some dinner for him.”
“Oh, um, he is sleeping at the moment. I-I, uh, I don’t have the key to the front door, or I’d let you in.”
“Oh, that’s okay. I have one. I’m Jayme by the way.”
“Hi, Jayme. I’m Lana and I’m out of here.”
Lana quickly made her escape from the woman. She’d managed to keep the tears at bay until she got to her SUV.
God, she’d been so fucking stupid to believe, just for one fucking minute, everything the man had said. How could she have ever thought he’d still be single?
When she got back to the house, Rocky and Sunny had everything under control. The twins were still with Jayson’s parents until later on, closer to bedtime, thankfully.
“Was wondering if we needed to send a search party out for you.” Sunny smirked as she walked in the door.
“Leave the woman alone. If she was smart, she knocked some of the cobwebs off her coochie and ended her self-imposed dry spell,” Rocky fired back as she leaned back on the couch.
“Fuck you both.”
“Nah, I think that’s the hunk you haven’t gotten over’s job. Nice shirt by the way,” Rocky returned as Lana escaped down the hall.
The shirt. She’d stolen one of Jayson’s shirts from his drawer when she’d realized hers had been torn in their mad dash to get naked and devour each other whole.
It smelled like him. God would she ever be able to move on from the man?
He was like a fucking drug that she was highly addicted to. She needed to break that addiction and fast.
Lana took a quick shower and cleaned up. Once she’d brushed out her hair, she went into the kitchen to cook dinner for everyone.
Cooking settled her mind and kept the voices at bay. She was finishing the salad when the twins and Jayson’s parents had returned back to the house.
Steeling herself, she took a deep breath and walked into the living room, into utter hell. Standing in the living room were not only Jayson’s parents, but Jayson, the woman who was going into his home when she left, and another man, an inch taller and built like Jayson and hot as hell in his uniform.
The twins came running up to her and hugged her enthusiastically. “Mommy! We had the bestest day ever with grandma and grandpa. We gots to pick out our own bed and decorations for when we come to visit them.”
Not to be outdone by his sister, little Jayson described his bed and theme that he’d chosen for his room. She couldn’t help the smile that came across her lips at their excitement.
“We hope that’s okay and that we didn’t cross…”
