Stripping, I step into the shower. I don’t hesitate. My cock is hard and throbbing. Slowly, I start to stroke it as I imagine Jane here with me. She would push me against the wall, kissing me passionately. I would grip her hips, picking her up until she wraps those long legs around my waist. Then I would spin us until her back is against the wall. I would kiss and nip every inch of her body until she was begging for me. I wouldn’t let her think I want to do anything but worship her.

Then I would drop to my knees and show her how a real man shows his woman he loves her.

My cock is twitching in my hand as I imagine how sweet she would taste. I can’t wait until I get the chance. Not if, but when, because there is one thing I’m certain of. Jane likes me, which means I will make her mine. I won’t own her, though. No, that is not what I want.

I want her to own me. Heart and soul. She is my reason for breathing.

I spill my release against the shower wall as I imagine telling her I love her. The way her eyes would light up. How she would say the words back.

I lean against the wall, catching my breath.

It’s too soon. I can’t tell her that now. She would run. Still, one day she will be ready. She will want to hear those words, and better yet, she will feel them.

She will agree to be mine, and in time, I will adopt Emily and Tanner so they really are my children. The blood in their veins won’t matter. All that will matter is that I will be the father they deserve. I will help guide them into adulthood. I will be their shoulder to cry on or the ear they go to when they need advice. I will protect and honor them.

Jane will be the center of my world. She will be the love of my life. I will do everything I can to prove to her each and every day that she is worthy of it too, that she doesn’t need to ever fear me. That she can be herself around me.

I will give them the life they should have had from the beginning. The one that they were deprived of.

Never again.

My family will always have everything, or I will die trying to give it to them.

There is no alternative.

“Mommy, they have a Ferris wheel!” Emily yells, her eyes wide as she takes in all the lights.

“They do. You want to ride it?” I ask her.

“I do. Can we?”

I look over to Mac. He is beaming down at Emily. “I bought us wristbands so we could ride all the rides you want.”

“Yay! You’re the best, Mac.” She throws herself at his legs.

“Do you want to go too?” Mac asks Tanner.

He shakes his head.

“Is there anything else you want to do?” I ask him.

He shrugs.

“How about you take Emily, and I will walk around with Tanner until he finds something he likes?” I tell Mac.

“Are you sure? We can stay together and still do something they both like.”

I smile, nodding my head to Tanner. Then I mouth, “I want to talk to him.”

He nods. “Keep your phone on you and call me if you need anything. A few of the guys are here tonight too, so it should be safe.”

I nod, wrapping my arm around Tanner. He shrugs me off but stays close.

I watch as Mac picks Emily up, carrying her toward the Ferris wheel.

“What’s going on with you tonight?” I ask gently.

“It’s nothing.” He turns his head away.
