Remember when she met us?

Thanks.

Each in a different voice. Only it wasn’t their human voices—their wolves were speaking to mine. But like talking talking.

That had never happened before.

They had told me I was their scent match, and I believed them. Why would they lie? Not when the match was based off card stock. It wasn’t like they saw me and were like,Oh, she’s hot, let’s go have her. They believed I was their mate, and now, I saw how true it was.

My wolf had never spoken to another—ever. And I’d say it was the spell, but their beasts weren’t spelled. The reason didn’t matter. What did was the fact that we could communicate freely like this and without the barriers of my lack of speech.

I reached forward, speaking in the way I would normally to my beast.I’d love to go to the water, take a swim.

And then, clear as day, I heard Talon say,That sounds like fun.

It wasn’t just our wolves who could communicate. We could too.

I bolted toward the river.Try and keep up.

Chapter Sixteen

Archer

Once we bonded with Sylvia as our wolves, there was no longer a question to us or to her that this was meant to be—fated in all definitions of the word. Our wolves spoke to each other, which was a trait someone found in ancient history books. A one-in-a-million connection between fated mates. Ironic how a female who could not speak had a wolf who could speak to ours.

When I asked her out on a solo date with me, her answer was immediate.Yes.

This was my chance to get to know her better. Not by her words. We talked all the time on text so I knew what she had to say, but there was more to our omega than her words. Her facial expressions. What made her tick. Her likes and dislikes, some maybe she didn’t even know.

Of course, there was the physical aspect. I wanted to hold her hand. Learn what made her blush. Pick up the tiny variances in her scent.

I wanted it all.

I arrived at her house, the house she was staying at until she decided to come home with us, and cut off the car. I’d opted against flowers and instead brought her a batch of Talon’s homemade fudge and from Dax, a fresh loaf of bread. Our Sylvia was a down-to-earth woman who didn’t like frills and over-the-top offerings. We had to humble ourselves and our gifts.

Knocking on the door made my stomach swirl with anticipation and excitement.

Her brother answered with a smirk. “Archer.”

“Hello, Benji. I’m here to pick up Sylvia.”

He squinted and crossed his arms over his chest, but it only lasted a second before he let out a laugh. “I’m giving you shit. I know. Come on in. She’s almost ready.”

I walked in and almost instantly Sylvia came down the stairs. My throat tightened up and I was sure a purr came from my chest. She was wearing a simple blackdress with heels, but it hugged her form and demanded everyone in the room pay attention.

My omega was the most beautiful woman in the world.

“I brought gifts from the pack,” I said as she approached me.

She took the bread loaf and the fudge and smelled them both. A soft blush bloomed on her cheeks.Thank you,she signed. I knew that one.

“Are you ready?” I asked.

She turned around and waved to Benji.

He nodded. “Take care of her, Archer.”

“You know I will.”
