Being silent kept me alive, but now that I met my mates, I don’t want to be invisible anymore.
As a child, my mother constantly told me I was a princess, and not the term of endearment type nope; I was a full-blown princess. When she dies and my uncle takes me to live with my father, the king, I envision tiaras and ball gowns. Instead, I learn the harsh truth: I am the “bastard child” of the family.
My brother and his friend find me first and save me from a certain death. It isn’t a bad life. My brother and his friend protect me and treat me like I was the most special person in this world. If only life could’ve stayed that way.
Instead, I’m kidnapped in the middle of the night and treated like chattel by my new owners. They make it clear that the only reason I’m alive is because they assume I might be a bargaining chip one day. I don’t tell them they are wrong.
