Sliding out of the back seat, I trip and almost fall flat on my face.
Okay, starting now!
Jules looks over the hood at me. “At least you got that out of the way,” she says with a laugh.
Walking into Leo’s, the place is packed. The booths are full and most of the tables are pretty well picked over.
There are a couple of bars in the town.
The Stadium is closer to the college, so it’s a younger, rowdier crowd, and not my kinda scene. There is a bar on the other side of town, but it has shifted owners a lot over the last couple of years. I think it’s a sports bar now.
Leo’s is where most of us locals go. There is a long bar taking up most of the back wall. To the right is an area with a bunch of pool tables and dart boards.
But the real reason we come here is because it’s LBGTQ+ friendly, even has a rainbow flag fastened up on the wall. Leo, the owner, is gay, and he made a safe space for us to hang out and be with our friends.
We are lucky. I know that not everybody has that luxury in their hometown.
Searching the crowd, I spot Finn sitting at a large table by the pool tables. I feel Alex and Jules go rigid next to me. We must look ridiculous right now, frozen in place.
Finn spots us. His eyes catching on to mine creates that weird pull of my body again.
His smile is big and wide and I let my shoulders relax some.
“Ready?”
Jules and Alex nod as I take the first step.
When I reach the table, Finn stands. He is wearing faded jeans that hang on his hips with so much sex it makes my dick hard. He has on a plain white tee shirt that hugs his shoulders and arms. This is the first time I’m noticing his shoulders and all I can think about is how easily he could toss me on a bed.
“Hi,” I say when I reach him. “Congratulations on still being employed!”
He laughs and wraps his arms around me to give me a hug.
“Thanks,” he says when he is close to my ear, making me shiver. “Congratulations on finishing your last test!”
This time, I laugh when I pull away. I don’t want to, but I can’t hug the man all night. I would look like a stage five clinger.
Stepping to the side, I say, “you remember Jules, and this is Alex.”
He steps in, gives Jules a hug, and I’m instantly jealous.
Alex’s eyes are scanning the group when Finn reaches out to shake his hand.
“Nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too,” Alex says, bringing his attention back to the conversation.
“Why don’t you guys have a seat, and I can get you some drinks?”
“Thanks, I’ll have a glass of red wine,” I say awkwardly. “I know it’s odd to order wine at a bar, but Leo has a wine collection that's to die for.”
“That is good information to know. I like wine, especially paired with the right meal.” He winks and I blush.
“Jules?” he asks.
“I’ll take whatever beer is on tap.”
“What about for you, Alex?”
