“No!” I said out loud.
Jess flashed me a worried glance.
“Kronos? What are they saying? Tell me what’s going on?”
“Quiet, Jess,” I said calmly, “Let me handle this.”

> Morpheus disapproved.
Like Thalassa, he’d resigned himself to our species’ infertility, to the fact that we couldn’t breed amongst ourselves due to a choice made by the females of our kind. I had always believed in the chosen path of our Prince — to seek out new life on alien planets for the sake of our species. I’d found new life and I had no intention of going anywhere without her.

“Hey, what’s going on?” Jess asked.
She screamed as the teleport started, still unfamiliar with the technology and in general, taken by surprise. Within seconds, we rematerialized in the cargo bay of the Devoran vessel. I raced from the bed over to Jess. Her hands were shaking and she dropped her knife.
“What happened? Where are we?”
>
“What? You didn’t mention you had siblings?”
>
“She’s not used to telepathic communication. Switch to verbal so we don’t exhaust her.”
“Very well,” Thalassa said, “You are on our vessel and we’ll be taking you to our planet.”
“What?!”
“I’m sorry, the decision has been made,” Morpheus said, “Kronos will assist in your adaptation.”
Then my siblings left me with a very angry human woman who craved answers.

JESS
“I don’t understand.We aren’t in Alaska anymore. But how?”
“Let’s leave my vessel behind,” Kronos said calmly, “This ship will be much larger and I’ll have the workers draw up quarters.”
He wasn’t explaining anything. I decided to ask about the siblings — the two terrifying blue-skinned aliens who made Kronos look about as intimidating as a puppy.
“You have siblings?”
I’d forgotten all about my plans to hold Kronos captive and get my ransom. I was in space. Every woman attacked by wanderlust has the desperate desire to remove herself from the familiar and immerse herself in the abnormal. That desire would finally be sated. Robbing Kronos was the furthest thing from my mind. I wasn’t even on Earth anymore.
“Yes. My siblings are soldiers for the royal family.”
