With that, the doctor nods, and leaves.
“Lilly?”
“Hey, are you ok?”
The girls ask me, and I feel tears begin to form in my eyes. I look at the girls.
“Liz, tell me what happens next year on my birthday.”
I turn to her, and she looks at me concerned but nods.
She tells me everything about how my father was the CEO of the Corales corporation. How my supposed mother and sister were just decoys to give me a cover and protection.
She then told me how my father asked her mother to watch over me, which became her task in the end. How Adonis was sent to kill Maxwell and me because he tried to trade my life for his. She then tells me how Adonis came to see me after the incident with Maxwell at the food truck stop.
How he told her he fell in love with me and was going to protect me by any means necessary. Hearing those words my heart skipped a beat.
“So, he’s been in love with me this whole time?”
I ask her and she nods.
“He’s been doing everything he can to make sure you came out alive at the end of everything.”
Suddenly there is another knock on the door, and it opens. There he was, his beautiful green eyes with a hint of red and puffiness from crying, his messy hair slicked back, holding a bouquet.
“Hey Lillypad.”
He says to me and the girls look at me and then to him,
“Hey Liz, I think I want some ice cream.”
Mary says.
“Yeah, you know what that sounds soo good right now.”
She says back sarcastically, I roll my eyes, and they kiss my cheek leaving me and Adonis alone.
“Hey.”
I tell him and he walks closer placing the flowers on the table next to the bed. He stands next to me, and I look into his eyes and see the worry and guilt in them.
“I-I’m-”
I reached my hand out and held his face. He sits on the bed holding onto my hand.
“I know, Liz told me everything.”
I look at the man who has my heart and when he looks me in the eyes, I see tears spill from them. Oh, my beautiful monster of a man. I kiss his tears away; I kiss his nose and forehead.
“What your father did to your mother was not your fault. What he did to my father and mother is not your fault.”
I tell him as I kiss his cheeks. I stop for a moment and look into this beautiful man's eyes. I kiss him and kisses me; he kisses me as if I had just returned from the underworld. This kiss is soul-binding, we break away from the kiss and rest on each other's forehead.
“I love you, Lillian Han.”
“I love you too, Adonis Malith.”
We lay in each other's arms in the bed talking about everything, he tells me how his mother died at his father’s hands as well, how he watched him murder her in front of his eyes. He then told me what happened when I passed out.
