“Since I met Lilly here, she has shown me what I am truly worth, and she makes me the happiest man alive.”
He tells her while looking into my eyes. We hear a huff as she storms away with her pose.
We all exhale and look at each other and then burst out laughing.
“Did you see her face? She was terrified.”
Mary laughs.
“Serves her right, what a bitch.”
Elizabeth says as she puts her earrings back on, we look at each other andlaugh.
We all relax and chat and drink. Noah and Liam joined us after they said their hellos when we heard Love Story by Indila as the orchestra played it. The boys took the girls and whisked them away to dance. Suddenly Adonis reaches his hand out to me.
“May I have this dance m’lady?”
He asked me and I smiled.
“Why of course you may kind sir.”
I told him and we began to dance. He twirls me around and I can’t help but giggle. He has me feeling weightless and light as a feather with how gracefully he leads me in the dance.
“Adonis.”
I look him in the eyes as we dance to the song.
“What is it Lillypad?”
He asks me and I kiss him.
“I love you.”
I tell him and I feel my heartbeat so fast I think it’s going to come out of my chest.
But just as quickly as it was racing it came to a halt with what he tells me.
“No Lillypad you can’t love me. You shouldn’t love me.”
It took me a moment to realize I was nothing but being played for a fool. He’s rejecting me and all I can do is think about how Maxwell always said I won’t ever be loved again.
“You don’t love me..is that it?”
I ask him but he grows silent.
“I’m such an Idiot.”
I say and pull away from him.
“Lillian, wait!”
I heard him yell but I run out of the ballroom not looking back.

She loves me, she told me she loves me and all I could say was she can’t love me. What the fuck is wrong with me. I watch her run out and the others come to me.
