“Adonis,”
She says my name so sweetly and I walk over to her, I sit next to her on the bed and hold her hand.
“Shh, I’m right here baby. Can you tell me what happened?”
I asked her while tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. Knowing full well that even if she doesn’t tell me I’ll just go back and look at the cameras and double confirm it was Maxwell.
“Burglar, I uh well I tried to fight back, and I guess I lost that fight.”
I can tell she’s lying, how I would love to punish her for lying to me, but this isn’t the time or place for that. I close my eyes and sigh.
“Well, all that matters is that you’re ok,”
I told her, making her believe that I accepted her poor excuse for a lie. The doctor comes in and tells us she has a fractured rib and some bruising that will form, but other than that she is ok. As we waited for her to get discharged the girls ran into the room.
“Guys what are you-”
Before she could finish Mary and Liz held her in a tight hug,
“My god Lills, are you ok?!”
Mary asks.
“Tch Mare, look at her she's a strong bitch,”
I nod in agreement with Liz's statement. She hugs them back and tells them she is ok. The nurse comes in and discharges her. We all head out and the girls say goodbye and are about to leave with Liam and Noah,
“Liam here are your keys, give me my bike back,”
I chuck the keys to him, and he smiles,
“You’re welcome ass,”
He says with a grin and gives me my keys, I take Lillian and hand her the helmet, she puts it on wincing a bit,
“Does it hurt?”
I ask her she smiles at me.
“I’ll be ok,”
She tells me and gets on the back. We headed back to her home, and I felt her tighten her grip on my waist. I held onto her arm and rubbed it the same way she rubbed me when my father made his unannounced appearance at the festival. I can feel her start to relax.
We pull over and I get off the bike and she look confused; I look at her knowing what I’m about to say is something I would never say to a pawn or a target.
“I’m not taking you home,”
I tell her and she wants to say something and before she can I tell her,
“Whatever happened today happened, but I am not leaving you alone in that house again. I’m taking you to my place.”
I tell her and she looks stunned, but I can tell she’s too tired to fight. She nods in agreement, and I nod and get back on the bike.
Great, what was I thinking? I start the bike back up, well if I had to bring the enemy into my territory, I guess I’m glad it’s going to be her.

We pull into my driveway, and I help her off the bike, she takes my hand and looks up,
