“Liam, I need your car,”
He nods as he looks at Lillian and I pass him.
“What the fuck happened to her.”
I hear Noah say, I look at him and shake my head,
“I-I don’t know, she was fine when I left her.”
I told him and I place her in the car making sure to buckle her in. I rush to the driver side and get in; Liam and Noah get on the bikes and pull next to me. I roll the window down,
“What do you want us to do?”
Liam asks me, I grip the steering wheel till my knuckles turn white.
“Find out who did this. Make sure they stay alive. I want to ask them why they did this.”
I say it through gritted teeth. The boys nod and ride off, I sped to the hospital glancing at Lillian.
“Please be ok, don’t leave me Lillypad.”
Have I ever been scared before? The last time I was this scared was when my open father was about to take my life. But even staring down at the barrel of a gun being held by him was nothing compared to the fear I am feeling now for Lillian. Why, I can’t feel this way. She's nothing more than a pawn, I need her to get to Maxwell and yet.
I glanced at her again and reached to touch her face, her hair was a mess, blood on her lips, her cheek was swollen and my stomach churned. No, remember the mission, she is the mission's pawn and only source. I pull up to the hospital run to her side of the car and pick Lillian up out of the car, I rush into the emergency room,
“Someone please help us.”
“What happened here?”
The nurse rushes to us and they bring us to a bed, and I lay her on there.
“I don’t know, she was unconscious when I arrived, I rushed here as quickly as I could.”
The nurse nodded and I saw a doctor approach.
“Sir we can take it from here,”
They took her in the back and suddenly everyone and everything started to move in slow motion, and I went at normal speed. She has to be ok, she’s strong and she will pull through this. All I can think about is her smile, her beautiful laugh, as I think about all these things I see Liam and Noah, and they have the girls with them. They rush to the desk, and I walk over.
“Oh my god Adonis what happened?”
Liz asks me, I shake my head and tell them exactly what happened. However, they don’t look surprised at all.
“Do you two know something?”
I ask them and they look at each other.
“You can’t tell Lilly we said anything to you three,” Mary says, and I see Elizabeth sigh.
“Maxwell, her ex was abusive and had a violent tendency with her, he would do this to her whenever she defied him. I’m not saying he did this but the pattern and the timing with him coming to the library it all seems to,”
“Coincidental”
I say and the girl’s nod. I look over to the boys and they nod. We will get this bastard, and I will kill him. I mean that is the mission after all isn't it?
“Sir, she’s awake now.”
I heard the doctor say and I let out a huge sigh. They take me to where she is and suddenly my heart stopped, there she was sitting up, they cleaned her up and the swelling on her cheek got a bit bigger, but as soon as she saw me her eyes flashed a hollow smile at me, and I know she's in pain, but she won’t show me.
