“Yeah well, what choice did we have, be killed or be the killers, that was the end for us.”

We both shudder at the memory of the day my father had come to both of us and informed us we would begin training. My mother didn't want me to be a part of this world, at first, I didn’t know what she was trying to protect me from, I always thought she was overbearing or controlling.

Turns out my father was the real villain, and that cold November night, I couldn’t do anything to save my mother, I remember it as if it was yesterday. All I could hear were my mother's screams and then watching the light fade from her eyes while my father was on top of her sucking that light out of them. Suddenly Noah nudged me,

“Adonis over there”

I looked over to where he was gazing and sure as shit there here is the man of the hour. Maxwell Times, son of Doraine Times, walking right into the same library my- I mean where the pawn was. Before he went in he stopped and looked like he was studying something,

“Adonis you see that,”

Noah says I nod, and we both look over to where Maxwell is looking, and he is staring at Lillian like she was his ticket to freedom.Ha not on your life bud. She’s going to be mine.I feel something slowly overcome me, I can’t shake this feeling but the thought of her with him makes me want to cut any man limb from limb. I watch him message someone, as soon as he sends it Lillian looks up, and starts to look around.

She doesn’t look bothered, she's calm and cool. That's right baby, good girl don’t let him get a reaction from you.I smile proud he does not faze her. Or so I thought, he walked into the library, and I saw Elizabeth look up, and she went white as a ghost.

“Adonis Don-”

I ignore Noah and rush into the Library, as I get closer I see that filthy man try and put his dirty tainted hands on her, She steps away, and I see in her eyes something that shakes me to my core, I have always seen my victims with fear in their eyes, as I point a gun to their head as they beg for their life right before I put the bullet right in between their eyes, I relished their fear it brought me some peace.

In her eyes, seeing fear in them made me grow cold, as if someone had shot me with an ice bullet and left me for dead. What has this man done to her? I take my helmet off and walk over to where she is. I wrap my arm around her waist.

“Sorry I’m late Lillypad,”

I say in a cool tone, I feel her tense and when she realizes it's me, she relaxes, and that makes my stomach turn, she feels safe with me, this isn’t supposed to be like this. I exchange words with Maxwell and get ready to leave with Lillian, however before we go, I walk up to him and say,

“Just to let you know my father Mr. Malith is looking for you, best show yourself very soon, or it-”

I looked over to where Lillian stood. If he had any shred of love for her he would take my warning

“Get messy, not just for you.”

His face becomes pale, and I pat him on the shoulder and turn to where Lillian is,

“Ready Lillypad?”

I ask, I take her hand in mine and walk out, the blood boiling in my veins, Noah is still on his bike next to mine. He nods to us,

“Hey man, so this is the girl huh?”

he plays dumb as I walk over with Lillian,

“Yeah, Lillypad meet Noah, my friend.”

“Best friend”

He corrects me. I rolled my eyes and handed Lillian the other helmet. She looks at Noah and smiles,no, that smile is mine, don't smile at him.

“It’s nice to meet you, Noah, I’m Lillian uh Adonis’s friend,”

She says and she shakes his hand. Noah shakes it and mischief forms in his eyes. I step in between them and look down at him. He throws his hands up as if to tell me he knows she’s mine.

“So, where to fellas?”

Lillian asks but before we can go her friends come out.

“Lilly, wait!”

I hear Mary say. They rush over to her.
