“Mom!”
I cry out as I see my father going after her, she was just trying to protect me and get me out of here so I wouldn’t end up following in my father’s footsteps, but she found out more than she should have and found what my father had been hiding.
I tried to run to them, but my father’s men held me back, not letting me intervene. I see my mother look over at me as my father hits her again and she falls to the ground. I yelled and screamed, trying to make my father stop, but no one was rushing to help my mother. I see the men who just yesterday were laughing and smiling with my mother, suddenly all turn a blind eye, what a bunch of cowards, they all look pale and yet they can’t find it in themselves to stand up to him.
“STOP IT” I yelled again, my father looked over at me and smirked.
“You have made our son weak MarieAnn, tch that won’t do now, will it?”
He said with a low husk, he then sat on top of her and placed his hands around her throat. I watched as my mother’s eyes became bigger and she tried to fight him off, she scratched his arms and hands, and he just tightened his grip.
“Now stop fighting MarieAnn, you know you can’t win,”
he said through a chuckle. I watched her become more and more limp, she turned her head to me, and I saw the tears in her eyes,
“I love you.”
She mouthed to me and then I saw the light leave them. My father got up off of her and wiped his hands, he walked towards me, and I couldn't bring myself to look at him. I balled my fist at my sides, and I felt his hand land on top of my head.
“Remember Adonis love makes you weak, and we Malith men are not that,” and with that he had left me with my mother’s body.
Present
Noah and I are training when we hear Liam walk in, he is holding a new packet.
“Ugh is that another one?” Noah asks and Liam nods.
“Yup, Adonis, your dad asked us to take special care of this one.” He tells me and I roll my eyes.
“Of course he does, what’s this one about?” I asked and pulled the file out of the packet. Looks like this one will be a DOS, a dead-on site contact, they usually are ones who have crossed the line one too many times, and this time it seems like they have offered someone else's life above their own.
Selfish prick, but that wasn’t any of my business. It looks like even though they offered the collateral they still will die themselves. I smirk of course just like my father to give them that hope and take it away. Father giveth and taketh I sigh and look at all the information on file.
I read about our target's information and apparently this one is very illusive, looks like they used to work for the Corales Corporation, their job was to dispose of the unwanted or unnecessary aspects the Corales Corporation didn't need or want to get out.
I roll my eyes knowing this won’t be an easy target. I read over the entire file and rub my neck, knowing my father wants this done quickly and quietly. I look at the boys and we all nod.
“Alright Liam, start gathering information on the collateral's position. I want to know everything about them, the locations they visit frequently, everything. Once you get that I will take on the collateral and see if we can get to the target that way.
Liam nods and walks away, Noah is looking into the files and stops for a moment,
“What is it, Noah?”
I ask him and he looks up at me, he looks hesitant, which is almost rare for him he never hesitates to say anything, but for some reason he is now.
“The Corales corporation, wasn't that your mothers-”
I shot him a glare and he stopped talking.
“Never mention her again.”
I say and walk away from him continuing to read the file. I walk over to Liam and watch as he tracks down every bit of information he can on the collateral, starting today I will be trying to get close to them, the pawn we call them. Because they are nothing more than a means to an end for my final goal. Liam hands me all the intel he has on the subject, and I start to read it all over.
Now the next phase, trying to find the target themselves, with that we begin the mission.
