He sat on the edge of the bed and helped her take the aspirin and water.

“Why do you look so angry?” she asked quietly.

“Because he barely looked at you. Maybe we should go to the hospital or—”

“Eastern. I’m okay. My headache’s actually already feeling better after some sleep. I think I just overdid it today after being so sick last night.”

Thatbetterbe all it was.

“Now, there’s only one thing I need,” Sadie added.

“What?” He’d give this woman the damn moon if she asked.

“You.”

His brows flickered. “Sadie—”

“Come to bed. Hold me. I have a good feeling that will make me all better by morning.”

The corners of his lips flickered. “Avery told me a cuddle would make you better.”

“That kid’s the smartest person I know.”

“She’ll rule the world one day.” He lowered his head, touching a light kiss to her lips. “Give me five minutes.”

He rose from the bed and moved around the house, checking that everything was locked up and the lights were off. When he returned to Sadie, she was asleep on her side.

Fuck, even when she slept, every part of him was drawn to her.

He stripped to his briefs before flicking off the bedroom light and sliding under the covers. The second he curled his arm around her waist and tugged her against him, she moaned…a low, deeply contented sound which slid into his chest and madeevery part of him that had been uneasy or unsettled instantly calm.

A steady thumpbeat against Sadie’s ear. It was so loud, it was all she could hear. And the heat against her cheek…God, it was nice. Like the sun on chilled skin.

She nuzzled her face closer while grazing her fingers against a hard surface. Hard but also warm. Not the sun. Eastern. She didn’t need to open her eyes to know it was him. His deep, earthy scent combined with the feel of his body gave him away.

Turning her head, she pressed a small kiss to his chest, right over his heart. Then another. At the same time, she trailed her hand down his body until she could feel him through his briefs.

A deep growl sounded. “Sadie. What are you doing?”

“Touching you.”

His fingers wrapped around her wrist. “You shouldn’t be doing that.”

“Why not?”

“Because you’re sick.”

“Actually, I feel kind of good today.”

It wasn’t a lie. As far as she could tell, the headache was gone and her stomach was fine. Hell, she even felt well rested.

She lifted her head, grinning at the almost pained look on his face. “I knew I just needed you to hold me.”

When he continued to look at her like a part of him wanted to run, while the rest of him didn’t knowwhathe wanted, she dipped her head again, pressing another kiss to his chest. He slowly released her wrist, and she continued to touch and explore him through his briefs, sweeping her hand over his hardcock. She loved every little sound he made. They were all deep and masculine and gravelly.

She began to trail the line of kisses down his chest, then his stomach. When she reached the top of his briefs, she heard the loud hiss of air between his teeth before he growled her name.

“Sadie.”
