I turned back to tell Thomas it was nice to have met him, but he was gone. I looked around, trying to find him, but he truly was gone from the clinic.

“Where did he go?” I asked quietly.

“Who?” Maxwell asked.

“Thomas. He’s gone.”

Maxwell looked around before he shrugged. “He probably went to join Canyon somewhere.”

I nodded. At least Maxwell mentioned Thomas and I’d not completely imagined meeting one of the fates just now. I let Maxwell lead me out of the bakery and into the early morning grayness. “Is it going to rain?” I asked.

“It sure seems as if it is. I haven’t looked at the forecast though.”

It only took a few minutes to walk from the bakery to the clinic. I followed Maxwell around to the back of the clinic, where he punched in a code, and the door clicked. It took me entirely too long to realize that the pair of boxes he’d been holding were now floating in the air.

“I could have held those for you,” I told him.

“That’s sweet, but there’s no need.”

We entered the clinic, and I immediately went to the office and set the box and my tea on the desk. The whole coffee cinnamon roll had certainly intrigued me, and now that I was thinking about it, my stomach started growling. I pulled out the chair and sat, pulling the box closer. When I opened it, Ifound four large cinnamon rolls inside, lined up on the left. In the middle were obviously filled donuts. They were shiny, so I assumed they were simply glazed and most likely were the ones that were filled with lemon. On the right were more filled donuts, but these ones had chocolate frosting on them, so those would be the Bavarian cream–filled ones.

The curiosity was too much, and I grabbed a cinnamon roll first. I took a big bite and moaned when my taste buds were flooded with the flavors of cream cheese frosting, cinnamon and sugar, sweet bread, and yes, coffee. It was absolutely delicious, and I figured I’d just found a new favorite sweet treat.

I realized too late that I’d not thought things through and there were no plates or napkins, so I started toward the break room across the hallway. I found Maxwell at the doorway, and he smiled at me after glancing at what was in my hand.

“Good?”

“Delicious. Have you not had them?”

“I have. I was curious what you thought.”

“They’re amazing,” I told him. “I didn’t think it through though, and I don’t have a napkin even.”

“Here you go,” Maxwell said as he held out his hand. In it was a plate as well as a few napkins. I took the paper plate, and after placing the sticky cinnamon roll on it, I licked at my fingers. Maxwell moaned, which had me smiling.

“It wasn’t intentional,” I told him.

“That doesn’t change the fact that now I’m thinking about you sucking on something else this morning.”

I laughed. I had indeed. Maxwell was incredibly generous when it came to sexual satisfaction, and he’d not ever asked for anything from me as of yet. I’d learned that he loved to be sucked, and any chance I could, I definitely put that gorgeous cock in my mouth.

“Well, here,” I said, holding up the cinnamon roll. Maxwell took a bite and chewed with a smile on his face.

“Just as good as I remember.”

“Well, someone must have wanted them as well because he told Banner to put four in the box.”

Maxwell made a face. “If you weren’t mated to me, you would probably be upset to know that they only have those once a month.”

“What?” I asked, my mind trying to understand why.

“Yeah. They are a daily special thing, and the specials run once a month. I think it’s more a twenty-eight-day rotation, but yes.”

“That’s so unfair. To others.”

“I said you’d be upset if you weren’t mated to me. I can make them for you if they’re what you’re craving.”

I sighed. “I’m not really, but yeah, it would certainly be frustrating.” I took another bite. “These are so good,” I said with a mouth full of cinnamon roll. The back door opened, and in came Owen.
