Kashton reads over it and then runs a hand down his unshaven face. “This is why you went to the cathedral?” He looks at me with narrowed eyes.

“Yes.” I lift my chin. I stand by what I did.

“It was a trap,” he barks. “How did you not know that?”

“I knew what I was going to find,” I snap defensively. “I’m not stupid.”

He snorts and I step into him, but Adam grabs my upper arm, pulling me back.

“Don’t touch my fucking wife,” Kashton shouts, bowing up to him.

“Kash.” I place my hands on his chest, pushing him back. “Take a breath. Okay?” My eyes search his and he turns, giving me his back, running his hand through his hair.

There’s a lot to take in. So much is going on, but Adam isn’t going to hurt me. Not here. There are too many Lords to protect me. And honestly, I’m not scared of Adam. In a one-on-one, I think I could take him. He has a dick, and I don’t care what that means to a Lord; it’s their weakness. One hit and he’ll be on his knees.

EIGHTY-FOUR

KASHTON

The phone shakes in my hand.

VI: Don’t kill her. Deliver her to the cathedral. Alive. We’ll use her for bait. Kashton will come running to save her. I’ll leave with him, and she’ll be all yours.

“You read this text?” I turn to ask her, to make sure I’m understanding what the fuck she did.

“Yes.” She nods. “The job felt…off. He made a move, and I killed him. I was going through his phone and saw that there was obviously more involved.”

“So you just decided you’d go. Alone.” My wife is crazy and in deep shit.

Sighing, she looks away from me. “I went to my house, grabbed a few things, and stopped by Barrington to call you. I knew I had to throw you off. I was already late returning to Carnage, and I needed time.”

“To die,” I bite out. “Makes sense.”

“Kash.” She sighs.

“How the fuck did you find Everett before we did?” I interrupt, demanding an answer from Adam. She and I can talk about her choices later when we’re alone. “I called you and informed you she was missing and asked if she had been arrested. We hung up and then you called me back and said no.”

Adam runs a hand through his already disheveled hair. “Saint had called Tyson, informing him that they were on their way to get Everett. They didn’t know what was going on, but she had called you, and it didn’t sound good.”

I look at Tyson. “So you called Adam?” Why the fuck would he call him about my wife?

“No.” Tyson shakes his head. “But Sin was with me at the time?—”

“You called Adam?” I snap.

“No,” Sin growls, “I called Bill. Told him to get to Barrington becauseEve was there. We didn’t know the situation. Just that someone needed to get there and fast.”

“But she wasn’t. Her cell was.” Haidyn frowns.

I look back at Adam, and it is taking everything in me to not rip his head from his shoulders. “How the fuck did you know where my wife was?”

He looks at her and then drops his eyes to the floor. I wish I had a gun on me because I want to shoot him again right now. Haidyn’s suggestion about his knee sounds pretty good. I’ve had all I can take with him and my wife. “Adam?” I snap.

“I have a tracker on her,” he barks.

My entire body tenses. I look at my wife, and her eyes—wide in disbelief—are on Adam. “You…you what?”

“You have a tracker on his wife,” Sin repeats through gritted teeth.
