“Oh, I want to. Trust me, I want to.” Relief washes over her face. “I just thought maybe you wanted to take things slower, that’s all.”

“Sharing a bed is hardly quick. It’s just sleeping.”

“Fair point.”

Hopefully my dick gets that memo.

“Tommy said he would help take the bed apart. He actually offered to do it today, and to put the crib and bassinet together, but I wanted to wait for you.”

“You don’t have to ask my permission for stuff like this, Angel.”

“I wanted to wait for you because I wanted us to do it together.”

Oh. Fuck. This girl…

“Really?”

She takes my hand. “Yeah. As long as you’re not too tired.”

“I’m never too tired for you.” I lean down to kiss her hand. “Let me shower and change, and I’ll get to work.”

I move to walk away, but she doesn’t let go of my hand, so I turn back to her. She tugs on my hand again, pulling me down to kiss her. There’s no way I’m denying her that. I kiss Dorothea’s head too, as gently as I can. She sucks in a breath, then makes the sweetest sound as she drinks.

“Her first appointment is tomorrow. Tommy and Kelsey said they’d—”

“I’ll do it,” I offer.

“You have to be at the club.”

“I’d rather be with you.”

“I don’t want you to get in trouble.”

I bark out a laugh. This ain’t a nine to five job where I have to request sick time and vacation time.

“Fuck them. I’ll be fine.”

While I’m in the shower, I can’t stop smiling at the thought of all the little furniture I get to put together.

Chapter Twenty-Two

Anastacia

I’m exhausted by the time the furniture is put together. Somehow, Grizz manages to put together a crib, bassinet, dresser, and a rocking chair in less than three hours. He did the bassinet first, so I had something safe to put Dorothea in while I helped him.

And byhelpI mean that I watched and handed him the parts he needed. Still, I like that I was included. I liked that we did it together, even if what I did was minimal—and more like support than anything else. The look on his face was my favorite. Brow furrowed, eyes squinted as he looked at the directions and then around for the pieces he’d need. He took it so seriously, and it was the sweetest thing.

For now, the crib, chair, and dresser are pushed to the side until tomorrow when Tommy can help Grizz take apart the bed.He said he could do it himself but was worried about it being too loud and didn’t want to wake Dorothea. She didn’t sleep much today. She fussed a lot and nursed for a lot of the day, which I was told by Kelsey was very normal. She’s been so helpful with the baby, especially with occupying her while I try to get some sleep, and supporting me in knowing what’s normal and not. I didn’t have to ask her how she knew all this stuff. It’s obvious she’s done a lot of research…

I think I’ve been lucky so far with Dorothea sleeping. She’s slept a solid four hours both nights, but with her being so fussy today, I’m not sure how tonight will go. But I’m glad her appointment is tomorrow so I can make sure she’s doing okay. She seems fine, but what do I know?

Grizz carries the entire bassinet into the other bedroom…ourbedroom, I suppose. He puts it down as carefully as he can, since Dorothea is still in it.

“Have you showered?” he asks.

I know he doesn’t mean that in a bad way. I don’t smell or anything. I shake my head, because no, I haven’t.

He gestures toward the hall. “Go ahead. I can watch her.”
