CAL:

So it was a publicity stunt …

RIFF:

It was … an experiment. The label thought we had chemistry and wanted to see if we could turn it into something positive. And once we started working together, well, it was sort of inevitable that we would learn to respect each other and even … like each other.(smiles at Harmony, squeezes her hand)

(audience says “aww” again)

CAL:

So the romance came after the song.

RIFF:

Technically, yes.

CAL:

What do you mean “technically”?

HARMONY:

(hesitates)Well, I actually wrote “Lip Sync” about Riff. It was right after we first got to know each other and had a … a nice date, I guess you could say, before we had the falling out. Our label found out about the song and wanted to use it, which I was very opposed to at the time.

CAL:

Well, this just keeps getting better and better.

RIFF:

You have no idea.

HARMONY:

But, seriously, once we had to collaborate, it became obvious to me that Riff is an amazing guy. He’s so versatile, and I really admire his process.

RIFF:

I think that’s something important to know: We’ve always really respected each other artistically, even when we didn’t get along personally.

HARMONY:

Right. Of course for a while it was like, “Who’s going to get the upper hand this time?” but not once could I deny that Riff is great at what he does.

CAL:

That’s nice to hear.

RIFF:

We just had to be in the same room together.(laughs)For like a year we were only talking through music, from a distance. That was the problem. Once we fixed that, it was like, “Why are we even fighting?”

CAL:

Probably doesn’t hurt that you’re both attractive people.

RIFF:
