RIFF:
Yeah?
HARMONY:
Yeah. Of course I couldn’tsaythat. And I was pissed, too. But it’s a great song. So is “Truth Ain’t Pretty.”
RIFF:
Well, thanks. It was nothing compared to “I Heard a Rumor (Chisme)” though.
CAL:
What ischisme, exactly?
HARMONY:
Gossip.Cuéntame el chisme. It’s like … “Spill the tea.”
CAL:
Huh. I learn something new every day. But Riff’s next song wasn’t in direct response to that one …
RIFF:
No, it was in response to something she said on social media. She said, “The truth isn’t always pretty.” So I wrote “Truth Ain’t Pretty.”
HARMONY:
You did admit you think I’m pretty though.
RIFF:
Too hard to deny, even when I hated you.
(audience says “aww”)
CAL:
You two are sickening. Absolutely sickening.(pantomimes discreetly wiping a tear from one eye)
(audience laughs)
CAL:
Anyway, then Harmony clapped back with “Absolutely Stellar” and I believe that was it for the diss tracks.
RIFF:
Yeah, after that, it was all “Lip Sync” all the time.
CAL:
So when did it go from feud to… whatever that was? How did you end up singing a romantic duet? What was the turning point?
HARMONY:
To be honest, our managers kind of ambushed us with that song. We both thought we were going to be doing it with someone else, and then we found out we had to do it together.
