There was a knock at the door, and she frowned. "Who could that be?" she asked.

"I don't know. You stay put, I'll find out," he told her as he got up.

He was on cloud nine. Not only had Frankie said yes when he proposed, he was going to be a father. Him. He couldn't believe it. When the knock came at the door, he expected it to be one of the guys and was ready to tell them to fuck off. The words died on his tongue when he opened the front door.

"Mama?"

"Hello, son."

"What? How are you here?"

"Easy, I came in on the ferry. But you aren't an easy man to find," Virginia Delacroix said. "I had to prove you were my son before I was finally given directions to your cabin. Are you going to invite me in or what?"

"Oh. Yes. Come in, Mama," he said, stepping back.

"Who is it, Yaeger?" Frankie asked from the sofa.

"It's my mama," he said, leading her over to his mate.

Frankie popped up off the sofa. "Mrs. Delacroix, what brings you all the way to Thorne Bay?"

"My son."

"But the pride—" Yaeger started.

"I've left the pride. I've thought about nothing else since we talked. My place is with my son."

"I've missed you, Mama," he said and hugged her.

"I've missed you too, son," she replied. "Now, are you going to properly introduce me?"

"Mama, this is Frankie Riggs, my fiancé. Frankie, this is my mama, Virginia Delacroix."

"It's a pleasure to officially meet you," Frankie said.

"Fiancé? Looks like I came at the right time."

"You sure did. You're going to be a grandma. We just found out today," Yaeger told her.

"A grandma? Well, congratulations you two! I should get out of here, let you two celebrate. I just had to see my son."

"Where are you staying?" Yaeger asked.

"The Pacific Rose B and B until I can find a place to rent."

"No need to rent a place. I have a whole house sitting empty. You can have it, rent-free," Frankie told her.

"That's awful nice of you," Virginia replied.

"You're family. It's what family does," Frankie responded.

"I like her. She's a keeper."

"That she is," Yaeger said.

"All right, I'll take you up on the offer. Tomorrow. Tonight I'll let you two celebrate your good news. I'll get out of your hair now. Goodnight."

"Goodnight, Mama. I'm so glad you're here," Yaeger said, walking her out.
