“Who said you had to stay put?” Veronica asked.

Nova sighed. “No one, but there’s someone I’m interested in. He owns a business here, one that requires quite a bit of his time and efforts. I know he travels a lot for work but I doubt he would be willing to leave his business for weeks at a time so we can go to distant places and enjoy new places and people.”

“Have you asked him how he feels about traveling?”

Nova huffed out a laugh. “Not exactly. Up until a couple of weeks ago, our relationship wasn’t exactly friendly.” She paused. “Oh, and I work for him now, so it’s not exactly complication-free, no matter how he feels about traveling the world with me.”

Veronica was silent for a long moment. “You work for him?”

“Yeah. But you’ll never believe this. He was the first man you matched me with.”

“Oh, my. I thought that didn’t go well.”

“It didn’t. He thought I was ridiculous, and I thought he was uptight. It was the worst date of my life.”

Veronica laughed but the sound died abruptly. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have laughed.”

Nova grinned. “No, it’s absolutely fine. You should laugh. I know I did when the date was over.”

“You laughed?”

“Oh, yeah. It was so horrible that it was hilarious.”

“Is there anything I can do to help you?” Veronica asked.

Nova sighed. “Not really.”

“Would you like me to suspend your membership?”

Nova took a moment to think about it. “No, I don’t think I should.”

“If you’re interested in Torin, are you really going to want to meet other males?”

“No, but it’s the only way I’ll be able to move on from this…crush.”

Veronica seemed to hesitate.

“Go ahead, say what you’re thinking,” Nova invited.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes.”

“I think you should talk to Torin,” Veronica said. “Don’t make a decision that you might regret.”

“I’ll talk to him,” Nova said. “But I still think I should resume accepting matches.”

Veronica was quiet.

“Do you have a match for me?”

“Well, yes, that’s why I was calling, but I’m not sure—”

“I know. It’s probably a bad decision, but those usually turn out for the best in the end.”

Nova got the sense that Veronica wanted to continue to argue but she controlled the urge.

“Very well,” Veronica finally said. “I’ll send you the information you’ll need on Ulrich.”
